"Well," I began and helped the young boy in the green chair, "don't you look handsome now?" I glanced at Sebastian, and he bowed in response of my praise. The boy said nothing and stared at me with a blank expression. I smiled and handed him a plate of dessert. Matilda sat next to him and watched quietly, not wanting to disturb him. "May I ask your name?" I asked. He remained silent but began to shake the plate making the dessert, which was a vanilla flan cake, wobble irregularly. Matilda giggled and reached to the table for a silver spoon. "It's food." she spoke up and stuck the spoon into the flan, scooping up a spoonful. "Say 'Ahh'." She said and held the spoon to his face. His lips parted slightly as he stared at her. Her smile grew wider, and her brown eyes sparkled with delight. As the spoon came forward, his mouth opened and accepted it inside. He didn't move, and Matilda released the handle of the spoon. "Tasty, isn't it?" She asked and placed her hands on her lap.
I smiled at her effort at making friends. She was a smart and pretty little girl. I wish I knew her mother like I know her. Maiden Rose trotted over with warm mittens on her hands and an apron tied over her work attire. "Lady Matilda, would you care to bake with Madame Maddie?" She asked and held a hand to Matilda, who jumped from her seat. "Yes!" She exclaimed and followed Maiden Rose. They only managed to walk three feet from us and was suddenly stopped by the young boy. He tugged the back of both of their dresses and stood still. The silver spoon still sitting in his mouth. "Yes?" Maiden Rose called and smiled down at him.
"Wanna come too?" Matilda asked and grabbed his hand. "We can make apple pies too!" The three of them left the room and everything fell silent. I felt lonely until the sound of shoes caught my attention.
"It seems the young lad has become quite enamored with Lady Matilda." Sebastian informed me and smiled. I nodded in agreement and made my way to the side of the fireplace. Sebastian stood next to me and watched me closely. "Has he told you his name yet?" I asked.
"I'm afraid not. He never opened his mouth at all."
"How odd." I said. My eyes glanced at a portrait of my parents and Maddie. I was in my father's arms, still a baby, and Maddie was small in size, standing in the middle with a dress on. My mother was wearing her white dress with her hair in a bun, looking as stunning as ever. I had never took a second glance at this photo, and a smile came across my face.
"Jae?" Sebastian called and I turned to him.
"I'm fine." I replied with a sigh.
Sebastian took my left hand in his right and held me close. My heart bounded and began to beat like a drum inside my chest. It was so loud that I could hear it thumping in my ears. "Sebastian?" I called, and he smiled. His lips met mine and a bolt shot through my body. Unconsciously I kissed back and closed my eyes at his gesture. His hand held my back and the warmth from him rushed through my body, making me shake. I pulled away, my face flushed. "What a lovely artifact."
"What?" I asked.
Sebastian pointed to the ceiling and I looked up. My heart felt as if it had exploded, and I could no longer feel it beat its harsh drum. There was a small mistletoe above the fireplace and hung over us. "One is supposed to kiss the other, is that correct?" Sebastian asked. I couldn't speak at all. I had not seen the mistletoe above us and my body went numb.
"Mommy!" Matilda cried and ran over with the boy beside her. Their hands were twined together and Matilda had a worried look on her face. "Whats wrong?" I asked. Sebastian pulled away from me and looked down at the little boy.

Sebastian's POV:
His eyes were wet and his shoulders jumped with every breath he took. "Brendon's crying!" Matilda cried.
