Chapter 30: Jae against Jae

I managed to untie my legs, but my hands were still tied behind the chair. I couldn't believe it; Linda shape shifted into me! She stood between me and Maddie with a small gun in her hand. "Jallerie, I hope you'll understand." Linda said and wiped the sliver gun with a towel. I shouldn't have trusted her from the start. If I hadn't told her our plan, things would've gone smoother without her interfering. Now she's disguised as me completely, she even has my contract seal on her leg. Its purple glow shined from under her dress. I felt the ropes loosen around my wrists, and I calmly pulled the knot loose. Instead of letting her know my hands were free, I held my arms together behind the chair, making it seem like I was still trapped. Linda untied the cloth around Maddie's mouth and Maddie gasped for air. "Madame Maddie, how could you turn down Richard? He is a fine young ma-"

"That bastard killed his brother, kidnapped us and tortured me! Does that sound like a fine young man to you!?" Maddie screamed at Linda. Linda gripped the silver gun tightly in her hand and frowned. "He is the last living heir of the next Wilde Family generation, and with him, his family name will stay alive. I can't say I appreciate him at all, but it would be nice to die instead of working for him." Linda aimed the gun at Maddie and sighed heavily. "I can't let him die, but I don't like him this way either. I shall follow his orders until I die. So be it." Linda aimed the gun to Maddie's head. "But you won't be alive to find out."

I pulled my hands from behind the chair and kicked Linda in her right leg. She fell to the floor as the gun fired. I looked at Maddie and she shook in fear, for the bullet had shot passed her face into the wall. I sighed of relief. Linda quickly reached for the gun, but I pinned her arms to the ground.

"You lied!" I exclaimed and pushed her head against the wooden floors. "I may have..but I'm only following orders!" Linda cried. Maddie wriggled in her chair, trying to release her arms and legs. "Mei Rin!" I called Mei Rin and she looked at me. "Hold your wrists together and pull out of the rope, hurry!" I instructed Mei Rin and she followed my orders. Soon, she was free and began to untie Maddie. Caught off guard, I was suddenly pulled to the side and fell onto the floor. I hit my shoulder on the wooden floor and the pain ceased my bone. "Gah!" I cried holding my shoulder. "Jae!" Maddie called, and I sat up. "No! Get out!" I yelled. Maddie ran out of the room and Mei Rin threw me one of her hidden guns. I caught it with one hand and stood to my feet. Linda quickly lunged at the gun on the floor, and I fired towards her direction. My bullet blasted the silver gun out of her reach and slid across the floor. Linda turned to me and frowned. "Aren't you supposed to be a princess? What kind of princess would shoot a gun?" She asked. I aimed the gun at her and smiled. "The kind that doesn't care about rules." Linda's eyes glowed and I shivered at the sight of my reflection. It looked as if I was the demon now. Linda jumped up from the floor and ran towards me with lightning speed. I fired my gun multiple times at her chest, yet she didn't fall. "I won't hold back my abilities now." She warned and grabbed a hold of me. I thrusted my elbow into her face and shoved my knee into her stomach. She flinched for a moment, but her bruises healed quickly. "What part of being a demon do you not understand?" Linda asked. She clenched my shoulders and the pain on my left side ceased. "Ugh!" I cried. Linda may look like me, but our strengths were different. My ability wasn't strong enough to fight against this demon. Then I remembered something. The words she spoke of before and held onto for years like she said.

"You may be a demon, but you still have a human heart don't you?" I asked.

Linda gritted her teeth and pushed more force onto me. I tried to hold my mouth closed from screaming in pain, but the force she was releasing on me was unbearable. "Shut up! You really are an idiot!" She yelled at me. She gripped my arms and threw me onto the floor. My head met the floor and was filled with a hazy sensation. "Idiot! Don't say that again! I know I'm a demon! I can't take this anymore!" Linda reached under her dress, and I heard something snap loose. In a panic, I reached my right hand under my dress and unclipped the huge dagger. Linda had the small dagger I gave her clasped in her hand, and she aimed it at me. I quickly pulled my dagger from my sash and lunged it at her.
