I sat in my chair and stared at the picture of my father on my desk. A tear rolled down my cheek and fell to my lap. I grabbed the framed photo and held it tightly. "I miss you and Mother so much." I whispered to myself. "Things are so hard without you." I held the photo against my chest and hugged it tighter. I wasn't the princess Mother wanted me to be. I was a daughter she dreamed of having. I missed them so much. I stood from my chair and placed the picture back in its place. I had to focus on the main problem. We had to find out why Danny was meeting a girl named Hillary. "Sebastian." I called, and he stepped into the study room. "You called?" Sebastian asked and I wiped my eyes with my sleeve. "My, your eyes are red." Sebastian walked up to me and grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket. He gently raised my head and dabbed under my eyes. "Stop it.." I said pushing his hand away. "It'll become sore if you don't clean it." Sebastian dabbed at my cheeks again, smiling. I let myself go and allowed him to wipe my face. My face was soon dry from the tears. Sebastian watched me worriedly, placing his hands on my shoulders. "Is there something troubling you?" He asked. I frowned and looked down at the ground. "It's nothing. How is Miss Kirsten?" I asked dodging his question. He released my shoulders and smiled. "She's in a bit of a-"
There was a sound of breaking glass and Maddie screaming. "Madame Kirsten! Please put the case down, now!"
"....Jealous Rage." Sebastian finished raising a hand to his head as if he had a head ache. I sighed and ran out of the door into the hall with Sebastian following behind. We followed the sound of crashing glass into the dining room. I stood at the door and found Kirsten throwing glass onto the floor which was already covered in dangerous shards of broken vases. "Miss Kirsten! Stop this instant!" I yelled and she froze in her tracks. My expression must be really frightening, for she is shaking from the sound of my voice. Kirsten slowly sat the vase down on the table and sighed. "Kirsten!" Maddie carefully came up to Kirsten and hugged her from the back, her arms rubbing Kirsten's shoulders. I sighed, relieved she finally stopped. "What's the matter with you?" I asked holding my head with my hand. I was truly frustrated with this childish woman. She's supposed to be older than me, yet she acts like a six year old.
"I just want to know who this Hillary woman is!"
"My lady, breaking someone else's things is not a way to get that kind of information." Sebastian said showing his annoyance.
"That's right! Maybe you just need some air. Maddie take her to the garden, please." I said.
They left for the garden and Sebastian began sweeping up the glass. "The dining room shall be cleaned in a few minutes." He said. I leaned on the wall and placed my head in the middle of my hands. "Okay, thank you Sebastian." I said faintly. I left the room and sighed heavily. I have so many unlady like words swirling in my head and it's frustrating to hold them in. "Ugh!" I cried and went back to my study. Maiden Rose was there placing something on my desk. "Rose?" I called. She smiled and bowed. "Afternoon, My lady." She said. "You have a letter, but I don't know who it is from." Rose handed me the envelope, and I looked at it. There was no seal, and I frowned. What is this? Rose left the room as I opened it and a necklace was shining in the envelope. I admired the necklace as it shimmered in the light. My birth stone was shaped as a heart and locked into a heart shaped frame. Who sent this to me?
I sat the necklace and envelope on the desk and read the letter.
'Madame Jae,
It has been years. Please meet me in the middle of town at the flower shop.'
There was no signed name. "Sebastian!" I called. He stepped into the room once again and bowed. "Madame?" he said. I handed him the letter and placed my hands on my hips. "Someone wants you to meet him at the flower shop?" Sebastian asked and frowned. "Supposedly, but I don't know who it's from." I replied and sat in top of my desk. I held up the necklace and twirled it between my fingers. "He even knows my birth stone. Garnet." I said admiring the necklace once again. Sebastian began to laugh under his breath and I scowled at him. "What's funny?" I asked. Sebastian walked towards me and handed me the letter.
"Jae, Anthony noted us on Daniel meeting a girl named Hillary in the middle of town." I tried to match everything he was saying. "Wait, wait, wait!" I said as I crossed my right leg over the other, exposing most of my right leg from under my dress. I shook my hands telling Sebastian to stop talking. "So, instead of meeting Hillary, he wants to meet me?" I asked and looked at Sebastian with a confused expression. He smiled at me and flipped his hair to the side and it fell back in place. Sebastian's face drew closer to mine and his eyes glowed red. "Is it possible that Anthony had mispronounced the women's name?" He asked and I blinked before realizing what he just said. "M-mispronounced?" I stammered. His face was so close that my heart began to race. It felt ready to explode.
"Hillary....Jallerie..Sounds similar, don't they?" Sebastian asked and traced two fingers on my cheek.
"Y-yes.." I said faintly. His fingers were so cold and I shook at his touch. "Is it possible that Daniel is wanting to meet you, Jae?" Sebastian asked and placed his hands on the desk hovering over me. "It's...possible. The necklace and the letter... He was the only one who I told about my birthday.." I felt my body go weak as Sebastian stared at me with his red eyes. "Now." Sebastian said and stood away from me. I sat up and thought about what just happened. My face felt hot and I cupped my face with my hands. "Shall we tell Madame Kirsten that Daniel would like to meet you?" Sebastian asked and pulled at his gloves. "No!" I cried. "I mean, what would she say? I'll just meet Daniel by myself and tell her everything later." I decided and stood from the desk. Sebastian bowed down on one knee. "Yes, Madame Jae." He said and stood back to his feet.
Okay, I'm meeting Daniel. Somehow this seemed so wrong....
