Snow.
Snow was falling outside. It was a beautiful sight.
"Isn't it beautiful, Jae?" Maddie asked, wrapping the tree neatly with a red streamer, leaving Sebastian and I to the ornaments. "Yes, it is indeed." I replied and smiled. Matilda played with the baby blue bells as Sebby played with her gown. I can't remember when was the last time we celebrated Christmas. The years had passed and time was flying faster than the blink of an eye. I fell into deep thought and somehow managed to trip over the bottom of my gown. A strong hand held my back and gently pushed me forward. I sighed and smiled, knowing who it was. "Careful, Jae." He warned me and smiled. I nodded holding in my shaky voice.
"Have you ever done this Madame?" Sebastian asked and grabbed the ornament I placed, setting it in another area on the tree. I sighed in embarrassment. "It's been years actually." I replied. "I can't remember if we even managed to celebrate this holiday."
I raised my hand to place a bell on the tree, but Sebastian quickly grabbed my wrist. His soft white gloves rubbed against my skin, and I shook from his touch. He slowly gestured my hand to another part of the tree. "Jae, you mustn't hoard one part of the tree with decoration." He whispered, and a chill ran down my spine.
"I-I understand." I stammered. I clipped the bell onto the tree and looked down, covering my blushing face. Suddenly Maiden Denise came over in a rush. "Madame! Madame!" She cried. Mei Rin appeared beside her, and they both shared the same frantic expression. I raised my hands, signaling them to calm down. "What's all the fuss about?" I asked. Mei Rin stepped forward, and her glasses gleamed from the light. "There's someone out in the rough snow storm Madame! It looks to be a child!"
"What?" My heart began to race at the thought of a child out in he cold with no help. "Sebastian!" I called and began to walk to the front door. "Of course." He replied and followed me. I opened the door and a blaze of cold wind hit me on my body. Small drops of snow fell on my face as I trudged forward from the front of the house. Eveything was white except for yellow street light. "Hello?" I called. "Anyone out here?" Sebastian pointed over to the street light, and I winced my eyes trying to see. A small figure came into focus, and I tried to step forward, but my foot was suddenly caught by the snow. I fell to my knees and caught myself with my hands. "Jae!" Sebastian kneeled down beside me, his black hair blowing in the harsh cold winds. "I'm fine! Go get the child!" I commanded and Sebastian ran off towards the child. Suddenly everything turned white and I could no longer see him or the light. I shook my foot free and began heading for the house. My hair blew with the wind, covering my face. I couldn't see much until I came across the front door of the manor. I turned around with for Sebastian. All was quiet except for the whispers and howls of the snow and wind. "Sebastian!" I called. I panted allowing heat to escape my mouth. A cold rush of wind slammed me against the door, and I hit my arm. Suddenly the door opened, and I fell onto the carpet floor. Mei Rin began to panic at the sight of me. "Madame, I'm so sorry, yes I am!" She cried and helped me up. I stood up while grabbing hold of her arm and kept my balance. "It's all right. I'm fine." I rubbed my nose that was as cold as ice. "I'll get you some tea right away!" Maiden Rose explained and headed for the kitchen. Mei Rin helped me make my way to a green chair by the fireplace. I thanked her for her help and took off my cold robe. The fire's heat brushed against my body, and I sighed. The storm was picking up and I couldn't see anything out the ice covered window.
"Oh dear!"
"Poor thing!"
Suddenly I heard the Maidens voices ring out from the front hall. Their voices echoed throughout the walls of the manor, and I turned my head to see what was happening. Sebastian came in carrying a small child in his arms. The child's brown hair was covered in snow, his clothes were torn and his shoes looked worn out at the heels. I placed the palm of my hand in his head, and he began breathing slowly. "He's chilled all the way through." I sighed.
"I shall see to it that he takes a warm bath." Sebastian suggested.
"Yes, thank you." I replied.

Sebastian's POV:
The boy slowly opened his eyes as I undressed him from his worn out clothes. He lied there on the bed with a blank expression on his face. I left him there and began to prepare his bath. He was quiet for a child. I removed my gloves and dipped my hand in the water, testing the temperature, when a sudden creak of the mattress caught my attention. The boy was watching me from outside the restroom, his feet swinging slowly against the side of the mattress. "How are you feeling?" I asked and stood from the side of the tub. He looked up at me with his blank expression, and his legs stopped swinging. I suppose he doesn't talk as well. I kneeled down in front of him and smiled. "Shall we give you a bath now?"
His eyes were dull as he stared up at me. I grabbed his hand, and he stepped from the bed, following me to the restroom. His hand was cold as ice, matching his glaring expression. He is an odd child compared to Matilda, and I wonder what will happen as he stays.
