Hiccup spoke the first words of the melody softy, the words came out as honey. He took her hand and held her more tightly, being afraid of his memories to come rushing in. Her expression softened at the sound of his voice. The next thing she did, really surprised him.
She sang the next verse softly and carefully, her face looked up at him, smiling tenderly. His focus became surprised, for her knowledge of the song and her beautiful voice. His breath hitched by every melody that came out of her breath. She sung the words knowing how important and fragile they were to him, and Hiccup could feel it too and it made him ever so happy to be able share this song with her at this moment.
He twirl her around and lead her through the song as he remembered his father and mother use to do. Their voices singing each verse in harmony as if they had know each lyric by heart. Their footsteps quicken its pace as so did the song. Lumiere and the others watched afar in admiration as the couple happily danced away. Both sharing the bond that has tied them down from feeling free, in their own world. The lyrics flew with so much meaning, Merida quietly letting her feelings flow through the night as the moonlight reflected in the room.
The song slowed down as so did their dancing, Hiccup bringing her closer to him, taken by the tender moment. Soon both found themselves looking at each other in the eyes, Merida getting lost into his, as their voices quiet down to the melody. Soon enough their faces started to leaned towards each other, becoming intoxicated by how close their breath felt on their lips. Merida felt drunk, lightheaded, but she liked it. All she wanted to do was hover on his lips forever. Without any second later, Hiccup somehow had lost control of his movements and his reasoning, the next thing he knew he had let his lips touch hers, falling into a kiss.
