She didn't just see the loneliness he portrayed but she felt it. Without knowing she was caught in his image, that she didn't see the sun start to rise.In the next moment all she knew that before her eyes was something she never could have imagined.

Her eyes traced every edge of his body until her cerulean irises were locked with his in a moment they both just held on to each other's gaze as if they could find solutions they ever so wanted the answers to but it was interrupted by Merida eyes flickering to the glowing light starting to surround them. It was like her brain told her to stop breathing at the image before her as she held on to every feeling she felt as she saw this young man's body lose its human flesh that was being replaced by hundreds of scales.
She could only grasp the monotone of his pain as it reflected in his eyes, a reflection that she couldn't quiet grasp but one thing she could say was that there was pain.......

.....But....it wasn't pain you showed when you hurt yourself or when you have a wound it was much more than that and it killed her not knowing what it was. Without thinking she let out a gasp as she observed the glowing dots now circulating the young man consuming him in the bright light. Her hand started to reach for him,... that..she didn't know why.

But the radiance of the light started making her unable to see. She had to retreat her hands to cover her face. Damn it.

She tried to take a peak but the little she saw was just a bright speck of light that totally consumed the man. Stupid light...

A few seconds passed when she felt a quick gush of air and the reflection of the light vanish from her covered face.
She didn't know if she wanted to remove her hands from her face or keep them there, to separate the reality on what she just saw and maybe convince her self that it was all in her head and she was falling crazy due to the fact that she just ran in the freezing weather and almost got eaten by a bear.

She removed her hands but kept her eyes shut....

"Uncover your face..."

Chills ran down Merida's entire body as she knew very well that voice, that same voice she's been hearing for the past few months now. She started to open her eyes slowly until she came to face with a particular Dragon.

"Un-...un, unbelie.....n-no...how..." Merida stuttered as she tried to come in terms with what was in front of her.

"Look..I know it's something unbelievable but surely this convinced you that it was truly me in that body..."

"I-iii....why didn't you tell me!?" She gave him a baffled look.

"I didn't want.....
I can't tell her the real reason...
"I just....ju....I!!! just wanted to take it slow, I didn't want to overwhelm you. Like living with a dragon wasn't too horrific. Now Imagine with a dragon shape shifting human.... I just wanted to gain your trust first...." Hiccup could only whisper the last part knowing that he might of broken that trust with this action.

Merida could only stay silent at his remark. Her mouth wouldn't let her speak, her hands wouldn't let her reach out to him like many times. Now knowing he was part man she couldn't stop herself looking at him differently, she couldn't just touch or hug him like a pet friend even though he stood only a few footsteps away in his dragon form. He was now more than that and she so desperately wanted to deny it. Will things be different now?

"I'm truly sorry Merida I hope this doesn't change anything." Hiccup spoke out interrupting her thoughts. Only to realize his snout was reaching for her arm that was hanging by her side, knowing his motives of wanting her to pet his snout she quickly took a step back flinching in the process, her body moving by its own.

The action didn't escape from being recognized by Hiccup. His eyes grew wide in shock and hurt. He quickly looked up at her face and he immediately knew that he would have to gain her trust again. She stood before him her eyes portraying those of a girl looking for the first time for who he really was....a stranger to her.
