"How are you feeling?"

"Um..good...and you?"

"I'm good too..."

Silence feel between the pair, both trying to avoid making eye contact.

"...look..what happened last time...the kiss...just please forget about it and all. I don't want it to be weird between us." Hiccup scratch the back of his hand awkwardly.

Merida was taken back from his words.

"It..didn't mean anything and it was just simply..."

The servants quickly tried to get his attention in order to stop him from forming any more hurtful words.

"A meaningful dead kiss."

Silence fell once more. Hiccup turn his gaze towards Merida to only see tears forming from her eyes.

"Just a worthless dead kiss?" She whispered looking down to her fistful hands.

"Wha-"

"Is..that all you have to say."

"....." Hiccup couldn't understand her sudden emotion towards what he just said.
"I'm sorry..if I stole your first kiss, if that's it."

Lumiere faced palmed his face to the words his master decided to use.

"Are you that oblivious!"
Merida sat up abruptly, slamming her hands on the table.

"If you are, then I'll tell you straight forward! I think...I like you okay! But you have to be so closed off and I understand you're under a curse but you won't even tell me what's your stupid curse and how to break it! What do you want from me then! Tell me!"

"It's not easy to say."

"Why not. Have I not gain your trust." Merida tears kept streaming down of anger and disappointment.

"My curse..is something I don't want to force you into...not like this at least, now I realized that. You have met me half way...and now I don't know...if I can. I'm scared to leave things behind, I don't want to be selfish again......there's things I can't let go if I try."

"Then tell me, how I can help you. Tell me!"

"I should have left you go from the very beginning. That's the only regret I have."

"....Are you kicking me out?" Merida looked at him in disbelief.

"You wanted freedom so Ill grant that promise I made you. All I ask of you is to keep yours and never return."

Hiccup's word stabbed her right in her heart. She had never known pain as much as this. She could literally feel how the arrow pierced the wooden target right threw ever so deep.

"Fine! If that what you want then so be it Haddock!" Merida started to stomp away but before leaving she turned around.
"Just so you know I don't regret my time with you...or falling for you but I do regret thinking you could of done the same."

Without another word Hiccup could only hear her steps and the slam of the main door closing. Hiccup throat ached so profoundly that he couldn't hold it no longer. He let out a loud cry and tears flooded through his face down his neck.  He fell to his knees, his hands rested the floor as if he was praying for her return.

His servants let small tears run down their faces as they watched helplessly at their master. Knowing he had let go of the one thing that made him happy.

Merida had gotten Angus from the stables and started to galloped away from the castle. She cling to her horse as she let out cries. At one moment she had turned around to see the castle view get further away but she knew she wasn't needed anymore, at least by him. He had made clear he couldn't return her feelings, so what was the point in staying?

She was only mad that he had made her believe she was special and maybe just maybe he could of felt the same. She rode for about half the night, her head buzzed in pain due to her crying. She felt her face dry  and numb, she was pretty sure she looked disgusting.

Her eyes squinted as the first rays of light hit her eyes. She finally absorbed her surroundings and noticed a familiar scenery. As Angus guided them up the hill she took a deep breath in and as they got on top she let out, finally she was "home."
