Chapter 30

After a few days, Meredith was exhausted. PT wore her out everyday, and between that and a baby to take care of, she was tired.

Derek and Carolyn had been saints. Derek made sure Meredith took her medication and always took care of her. Carolyn had been a huge help with Zola. Meredith was also dying for a surgery, and Derek tried his best by bringing back tapes, but it didn't really help.

Meredith and Derek were sitting on the couch in the living room one morning, and Carolyn was on the floor with Zola.

"Derek, Meredith, Lizzie called today. She was put on bed rest for the baby, and she asked for me to stay with her." Carolyn said.

"Oh." Derek sighed. "It's okay." Meredith said.

"Are you sure? I can probably stay a few more days...." Carolyn trailed off.

"Mom, you've been here for weeks. It's okay. Mer and I gotta get used to just us and Zo. Go be with Liz, she needs you." Derek cut in.

"Lizzies husband, jack, bought me a plane ticket for tomorrow. Is that okay?" Carolyn asked. "That's fine, mom. We'll be fine." Meredith replied.

"Okay." Carolyn said with a small smile.

A little while later, Meredith was back at the hospital for PT. She wasn't happy to go, but she knew she had to.

"Meredith, how are you?" Lucy asked with a smile as she wheeled in. "I'm fine." Meredith replied.

"So today were just going to do our exercises we did last time. We want to get that mobility back you hsd before." She explained.

"What about the shock thing?" Meredith questioned with a confused expression. "Next time. We have to get your back at a certain level of strength before we can begin." Lucy answered.

Meredith nodded, and with a sigh, she began her exercises.

Meanwhile Meredith was at PT, Derek was working. He wasn't currently in a surgery, but he did have some paperwork to fill out.

"Shepherd, how's Grey doing?" Bailey asked as she came up to him.

"She's doing alright. She's at PT right now." Derek replied. "Oh, well, you said she's dying for a surgery, right?"

"Oh yeah. Everyday." Derek said with a chuckle. "Well, I have a tumor removal in an hour. If she wants, she can watch from the gallery. I can close it too if she wants." Bailey offered.

"I think she'd like that if her PT went well. It's over In a few minutes, so I'll go run over there and ask." Derek replied.

"Okay. Just page for before if you can so I can close the gallery." Bailey said with a smile, walking away.

Derek made his way to Merediths PT room and knocked before entering. "Hey." He smiled as he walked in.

"Hi." Meredith replied quietly. "How did it go?" Derek asked Lucy. "She did very well." Lucy replied. "So, you think your up to watching a surgery?" Derek asked.

Meredith look at him with a surprised face. "Really? I can watch one?" She asked hopefully. "Bailey offered to close the gallery for us." Derek explained.

"Can I? Can I watch it?" Meredith asked Lucy. "I don't see why not. Think of it as your reward." She replied. "Thank you! Can we go now? Please?" Meredith begged, wheeling herself quickly to the door.

"Slow down." Lucy warned with a smile. "Let's go. Thanks Lucy." Derek said, grabbing the handle bars to push her.

Derek got to the gallery where Bailey was waiting to operate. "You good?" Derek asked as Meredith transferred herself to a chair.

Meredith nodded and anxiously looked down to the OR. "Welcome back Grey." Bailey said through the intercom as she began cutting.

Meredith watched as her former resident as she performed a surgery Meredith had performed many times. It was nice to be close to an OR again.

"You'll be back in an OR sometime." Derek said, interrupting her thoughts. Meredith sighed. "I hope so."

"You will." Derek replied.

After the successful surgery, Meredith and Derek went home. It ended up being a successful surgery, And Meredith was in a good mood. She was tired,  it she was happy.

Carolyn had stayed with Zola one more night, so they got home and all hung out for a while. "Thank you for staying with us mom. You've been a big help around here." Meredith said.

"Oh, it was my pleasure. I love spending time you kids." Carolyn replied. "But I'll be back. Don't think this is the last time I'm visiting."

Derek and Meredith laughed. "We love having you here." Derek said, pulling Meredith close to him. "Well, I should turn in. Goodnight everyone." Carolyn said, going to her room.

Meredith and Derek went to their bedroom. After getting ready for bed, the two of them joined each other in bed.

"Thansk for doing this today." Meredith said quietly.

"Of course, Mer. You'll be back in the OR. , I know it. It's gonna take some time, but you'll be back. And I'm sure Lucy will let you do charting or sometning." Derek replied.

"I hope so. I'm bored." Meredith said with a smile. "I know you are. Let's get some sleep now." Derek said, wrapping her Body in his arms.

"I love you Derek." Meredith whispered as she yawned. "I love you too, Mer." Derek replied kissing her neck.
