Chapter 63

Chapter 63 - epilogue

"Ready to surprise mom?" Derek asked the kids

Meredith and Derek now had 3 kids, Zola, Bailey and Ellis.

"Yes daddy!" Bailey yelled as he unbuckled himself

"Wait for Ellis, guys" Derek said as he unbuckled the little girl

"Mama?" She muttered

"Mama's inside, grab Zola's hand" He said against the young girl

The three kids ran into the house "mommy!" They yelled

"Hey guys" Meredith smiled as she entered the living room "Come here" She saud and lowered herself to the kids' level

"Hey Mer" Derek smiled as he came in

"Hi" She whispered as she kissed his lips

"Mommy, look!" Zola said and opened the box she was carrying

"What's that?" Meredith giggled as she opened the box "Wow! This is beautiful" Meredith smiled and took out an USB stick

"I'll grab the computer" Derek smiled and let go of her hand " Go get yourself and the kids comfortable on the couch"

"Come on guys, you heard daddy" Meredith laughed

They all sat down on the couch and Meredith opened the computer, plugging in the USB stick

"Derek?" She gasped as she saw all the pictures appearing and quickly opened them

"They're not in the right order but I thought you wouldn't have much problems with that" He told her and slid his arm around her waist

"Not at all" She said as she clicked to the next picture "Oh god" She gasped as she looked at the picture where she was showing off her bump when she was halfway through her pregnancy with Bailey.

Their OB kept a close eye on them with the risk of Meredith's condition. She wasn't able to walk far distances and was on bedrest the last 2 months. They named their son after Miranda that helped them a lot when Meredith was recovering but also after when she was at home, 2 weeks before her due date and her water broke unexpectedly

"That's when you were pregnant with Bailey" Derek told her

"Yeah" She smiled softly as memories came back. She clicked to the next picture, showing her and Derek on the ground in front of the couch. This was when Carolyn lived with them to help them closely after the incident and this was the first day that Zola was home with them

"I was so small" Zola commented

"Yeah you were" Meredith cuddled her daughter

"Mommy boo boo?" Ellis asked as Meredith was looking at the next picture, showing a picture of her and Zola at the baseball game.

"Mommy had a boo boo. That's why you can't jump on mommy now you're getting bigger" Derek smiled as he kissed the little girl's head

Meredith regained all her strength in her legs and barely had any pain but sometimes after a long day with a lot of surgeries, she needed a warm bath and to cuddle on the couch with her kids

The next one was a small home video when Ellis started to waddle around the house

"Look at her" Meredith smiled as she breathed in the smell of her daughter's hair that was sitting in her lap

"Me?" Ellis asked

"Yes, that's you" Zola told her little sister

"Baby! Me no baby" Ellis said

"You were back then, little girl" Derek laughed

Ellis was frowning and seemed clueless

"She doesn't get it" Meredith whispered against Derek with a small smile

"She's too cute" Derek laughed

The family of five kept watching at all these old videos and pictures until bedtime of the kids

"Okay, now we'll go brush your teeth and then you guys head to bed" Meredith said as she stood up

Little Ellis was already asleep on Derek's lap so he carried the girl upstairs and quickly changed her into her pyjamas

"Let's Bring Zo and Bails to bed" Derek whispered in Meredith's ear

...

"Hmm.. this- oh god" Meredith was panting

"I love you" Derek whispered as he pulled her closer in his arms

"Thanks for the surprise" She said as she rolled over to his side, staring in his beautiful blue eyes

"I'm happy you like it" He said before kissing her neck and shoulder

"I can't realise that it's been 8 years since all of that happened" Meredith whispered, thinking of her spinal cord injury while putting on some shorts and a tank tom

"We've had a crazy turn around back then but now we got everything we ever could have wished for" Derek whispered back, stroking his hair with his fingers

"Everyday I'm grateful that everything turned out so good" She sighed in his arms "I'm grateful for you, my legs, my job, our friends and family and I'm so grateful and proud of our kids" She told him, her thumb rubbing his upper arm

"Who would have thought we would end up in this position? I never imagined Zola to come back, then your miracle pregnancy with Bailey and an even bigger miracle with Ellis.." Derek said, reminding them of the difficulties they had to get a 3th child. They almost gave up for another kid when Meredith seemed to have a stomach flu but when it didn't go over, she got her blood checked and then they found out. She was pregnant. 7 weeks, she went on bed rest after a pregnancy scare.

"I'm so happy" She whispered in his arms

"I think we did good" Derek said as he thought about everything they had until they heard a silent knock on the door

Meredith stepped out of their bed and opened the door, revealing a sleepy Ellis with a stuffed animal under her arm

"Hey Ellie Belle, what are you doing out of bed?" Meredith asked with a smile

"No sleep. Wanna sleep in big bed" She said as she rubbed her eyes with the head of the stuffed animal

"Come, lay down with us" Meredith whispered and carefully scooped up the little girl and placed her in between them.

The newt time Meredith woke up was in the morning with all three kids and Derek spread around her, all in one big embrace.

She was looking at them with a huge smile on her face and decided to close her eyes again, so she turned around and wrapper her arms tight around the kids and fell asleep again
