Chapter 32

Meredith woke up one morning. They didn't have work or PT today, so they were just relaxing. She looked over at Derek, who was sleeping peacefully.

Meredith pulled her upper body closer to Derek and started pressing kisses to his jawline. Derek groaned in pleasure unconsciously.

Meredith smirked and used her upper body strength to pull herself on top of him. She kissed him softly, running her arms up and down his chest.

"Mmm." Derek moaned as he opened his eyes. "Good morning to you too." Derek said as he kissed her back. "Are you...can you?" Derek asked hesitantly.

"We'll find out." Meredith giggled. Derek took that as an answer, and kissed her hard.

Derek and Meredith collapsed back into bed a little
While later. "That was great." Derek said as he panted. "Are you okay?" He asked.

"Good. Yeah. It was...different. But good. Definetely good." Meredith replied. "I think we needed that." Derek said. "We definitely did." Meredith agreed.

"Cristina, Jackson, Alex, and April are coming over today to study." Meredith said. "Do you want me to go?" Derek asked.

"No. I just wanted to let you know." She replied. "Sounds good. I can cook something up. What time are they coming?" Derek asked.

"I think around 12. Which means we should probably get out of bed. Zo's gonna wake up soon too." Meredith replied. "Alright." Derek answered, grunting as he got out of bed.

Meredith transferred to her chair and rolled out of the room, Derek right behind her. They went to Zola's room and found her just waking up.

"Good morning baby girl." Meredith said softly as Derek picked her up and placed her into her arms. Zola nuzzled against Merediths chest. "Ma." She mumbled sleepily.

"Let's go downstairs. I'll make some breakfast." Derek said. He pushed Meredith out of the room with Zola in her arms and Meredith transfeeered to the chair lift.

Once they got down their, Derek carried Zola to the kitchen and put her into her high chair. Derek helped Meredith transfer once more to the kitchen counter.

"What can I get for you two ladies?" He asked with a smile. "I'm fine with cereal. Zo should have some of that yogurt she likes." Meredith answered. Derek
Nodded and got to work.

Derek handed his girls breakfast and sat down next to Meredith. "Are you nervous for your boards?" Derek asked. "Yup." Meredith responded. "You'll do great." He said.

"It's not that I'm worried about. How am I gonna get onto a plane?" Meredith asked. "I can probably go with you. And if I happen to not be able to then Cristina and Alex know how to help you." Derek replied.

"But we'll get to that when we get to that." He added. "Okay." Meredith replied.

After dinner, they got Zola dressed and ready for the day and then got themselves ready. Derek helped Meredith into a pair of jeans and a sweater.

"We're here!" Cristinas voice called through the house. "In the living room." Meredith replied.

All four of the surgeons stepped into the living room and plopped themselves down on the couch. "Here's the motherload." Jackson said, dropping down a big stack of flash cards and papers.

"Zo and I are gonna go for a walk. We'll be back soon." Derek said. "Love you." He said, kissing her softly. "Love you too."

"You're sitting next to me on the plane Mer." Cristina said. "Derek may come too." Meredith replied. "Why?" Alex asked.

"I'm not sure how I'm going to manage on a plane. I'll need a lot of help." She said. "We can help you. Shepherd doesn't need to come." April cut in. "We haven't talked about it much but we'll probably ask Callie or Lucy about it."

They all nodded. "Let's get studying." Jackson said.

"Meredith, how many patients get diagnosed with cancer per year?" Alex asked. "Around 1.8 million. Easy question." Meredith replied.

"Ma!" A small voice yelled. Derek carried Zola over and Zola scurried onto her lap. "Hi baby. Did you have a good walk with daddy?" Meredith cooed.

Zola nodded. "How's it going?" Derek asked. "Good. Alex is giving me easy questions." Meredith said. "Hey, I'm just pulling the from the deck!" Alex defended.

"You're going to kick ass." Derek said assuringly, kissing her softly until a small hand moved dereks face away.  "No PDA in front of the baby." Cristina smirked.

"Daddy can't kiss mama?" Derek asked. Zola smiled and shook her head. "Fine then." He said, kissing Zola's forehead. "Better?"

"Ya!" Zola exclaimed. Meredith giggled and held dereks hand. "So, you're coming with us on the plane Shepherd?" Jackson asked.

"I domt know. I mean, someone has to stay with Zo but it might be a little difficult." Derek replied. "We can all help her. We're doctors, and the wheelchair folds right?" Alex asked.

"It does." Meredith confirmed. "Do you want me to come?" Derek asked. "You have to watch Zo. And you're not gonna be at my side every minute of every day. I think it would be good." Meredith replied.

"Okay. We'll have to go over a few things but it sounds good." Derek said.

"We should probably go." April said. They all stood
Up and grabbed everytbing. "See you guys later." Cristina said, all of them leaving.

They hung out for a while before it was time for Zola's nap. "Are you sure you'll be okay on the plane by yourself? I could go with you and Bailey or someone can watch Zo." Derek asked.

"I need to learn to be more independent. It'll be okay. Cristina and Alex know how to help me, and I'm sure Jackson and April do too." She replied.

"Alright. If you change your mind let me know." Derek said. "I will." She replied.

"I love you." Meredith said. "I love you too, Derek."
