Chapter 47
Derek woke up early in the morning when he felt the matras shaking
"Mer?" He whispered
"I didn't want to wake you. They won't stop spasming" She replied
"I'll rub them" Derek offered and started rubbing her legs as Meredith laid down but winced in pain
"Bad day?" Derek asked
"My back.. I don't know, it's a weird feeling"
"Well let's take a shower once your spasms are over. The hot water will do good for your back"
"Thanks" She whispered
As Derek said, he helped Meredith into the shower and helped her wash herself before they heard Zola's small cries
"I'll go grab her" Derek said once they got out of the shower
"Maybe we need to give her a bath now, we won't be off till late" Meredith said
Derek nodded and left to get Zola. In the meantime Meredith get Zola's toys ready and started running the tub with water when Derek and Zola walked in "Maaaa!"
"Hey, baby" Meredith smiled "Let's take a bath before we go to daycare"
"Ya! Ba" Zola yelled
"Mer, can you grab her pink soap?" Derek asked her as he put Zola in the bath
Meredith wheeled over to the closet when she accidentally wheeled into it "Aw" She claims as she started rubbing her lower leg
"Mer? Did.. you feel that?" Derek asked as he moved over to her
"I.. I did.. Oh, I.." She stuttered
"Here" Derek said as he lifted her legs and pinched it a few times
"I.. I feel that" Meredith started smiling and crying at the same time
"I'll call Amy, we need new scans. And lucy!" Derek said
"I'll quickly dress Zola" Meredith said

They hurried their way to the hospital and during the car ride Meredith kept fascinated by feeling her right leg. She couldn't move it yet but she could feel it!"
"Derek? What's happening" Amelia asked as she was confused about Derek's phone call
'It's Mer, she bumped against the closet and she felt it, her right leg, she feels the biggest part of it
"We'll bring her up for scans" Amelia said with a big smile
As Meredith was laying in the machine, the others were waiting as Bailey, Cristina and Alex came running in
"What's wrong with Mer?" Cristina asked
"She felt her right leg!" Amelia told them
"She did?" Alex went over to look at Meredith through the window
"Of course she did" Bailey smiled and joined Alex
"Maaaa" Zola babbled
"Mommy's gonna be fine, Zo" Derek laughed as he told her
"Pay?" Zola asked
"I'll take her to daycare for you" Bailey smiled as she walked out of the room, carrying Zola
"Derek?" Meredith's voice was heard
"I'll come" Derek said and helped Meredith off the table back in her chair and wheeled her out. Amelia, Lucy and a few others were waiting on them outside
"Let's go to a quiet room" Amelia smiled
...
"But you can't move them?" Lucy asked
"I can wiggle my toes a bit but that feels weird" Meredith told them as they were examining her
"But if I turn your ankle, you can feel it, right?"
"Yes, but only my right leg"
"Meredith, your nerve is reconnecting. This is great news, your feeling is returning. For now we see that your muscles will need to relearn to do what you tell them. So keep doing PT" Amelia told them
"This morning I had bad spasms and my back felt kinda weird"
"Could be the signs that it's healing. Mer, don't give up. You're close and you'll feel your legs again" Amelia smiled
"I.. I feel them" Meredith giggled
"What's the next step?" Derek asked
"For now I would like to take you with me to start a PT session. Just to see if we get anymore out of your legs or toes, is that okay?" Lucy asked
Meredith nodded and Derek helped her in her chair before she left with Lucy to PT.
"Amy, she'll walk again" Derek smiled
"Take it easy, Derek. Give her some time but this is amazing" Amelia smiled and hugged Derek who started crying
...
"Come one, Zo. Let's go see mommy" Derek said as they made their way to the room where Meredith was doing her PT session.
"Ma!" Zola yelled as they entered the room. Derek placed her on the ground and held her hands while she was slowly and wobbly stepping towards Meredith who looked exhausted
"Hey, how did it go?" Derek asked as he kissed her lips
"Painful but I'm happy that I can feel that" She laughed, her eyes drooping
Let's go home" Derek offered
"Let's ask the others if they wanna join us for dinner. We can order pizza"
"Are you up for that?" Derek asked
"I just wanna celebrate" Meredith smiled

A few hours later they were all sitting on the couch of the dreamhouse. Meredith, Derek, Bailey, Amelia, Cristina, Alex, Lexi and Mark.
"So, big Grey, now you got your article you decided you'll walk again?" Mark joked
"Jealous because your boob jobs don't reach medical articles?" Derek joked back which made everyone laugh
"Thanks, guys for the past months" Meredith smiled as her head was resting on Derek's chest. "I can't wait to be back in surgery" She smiled
"You know they call you Medusa, right?" Cristina laughed
"That's a good thing!" Bailey replied
"Yeah.. BCB" Alex laughed
"What's that?" Bailey asked
"Your new nickname" Mark replied
"Don't worry, Bailey!" Lexi said
"What's a BCB?" Bailey asked
"Booty call Bailey" Mark and Alex laughed
The others chuckled and laughed when Bailey looked shocked
"I like Medusa" Derek said
"Are you saying that I look like a woman with snake hair?" Meredith laughed
"No, but you're badass" He replied and kissed her head
"He's doing the McDreamy's again" Cristina warned
"Oh, hush you!" Bailey laughed "Love is beautiful" Bailey said
"It is" Meredith whispered and cuddled closer into Derek's embrace
