,,Why you?"
,,As if I knew! What matters is how?!" Peter still couldn't believe the task he was given.
The battlefield was a mess. It was a miracle he wasn't attacked by his own people yet.
Ghal stared at him, saying nothing.
,,You could try herding them," Zan suggested.
,,And then what? I just say I'm in command and everybody suddenly listens to me?"
,,You defeated that dragon. That has to count for something."
,,Yes, but I can't repeat that. I can't even fly!"
Why did Karax do it? He barely managed to survive! How could he lead an army? And since when did he have the authority to give him such a job?
,,Should I take you to the infirmary?" Zan asked.
,,That won't solve anything."
,,Your wing is suddenly nothing?"
,,I can't do this! Wing or no!"
Zan reared and he hit his neck. ,,Stop whining and get it together! You are a fucking prince! Act like one!"
He gritted his teeth and squeezed Zan's sides. ,,And you stop doing that!"
Peter turned to Ghal and reached out his hand. ,,Mount. We have a job to do."
His brother stared at his hand as if it was made of snakes.
,,Ghal!"
,,Battle shock. It will pass."
Out of all people, he had to get it?!
Fine. He jumped down and gripped Ghal's shoulder.
His eyes finally focused and he shook it away. ,,Don't touch me!"
,,What? Why?" he blinked in confusion.
,,You are a monster!" Ghal declared.
Peter sighed. ,,I'm not. And no amount of saying that will change it."
,,I saw what you did!"
,,I'm a dragon! You knew that! You know what dragons are capable of!"
,,You are a killer!"
,,And so are you! Or is that red on your sword a jam?"
Ghal froze, looking down.
,,I thought so," he scoffed.
,,My battles were fair. You straight-up slaughtered people!"
,,Wake up! We are in the middle of a raging battlefield and you are yelling at me for keeping us both alive, which is the only reason why we can have this stupid argument in the first place!"
,,Fairness has no place on a battlefield," Zan added.
,,Move! This is my battlefield now!"
He would make them listen. Whatever it took. Zan was right.
When he straightened on Zan's back, Ghal still glared at him defiantly.
,,If you don't mount now, I will leave you here alone!" he threatened.
The lie worked and Peter found himself being squeezed to death.

Cierra entered the tent and found herself being the subject of all eyes. She straightened herself, lengthening her stride. She felt exposed without her wolf at her side.
