Chapter 125

She had to go help Karax! She couldn't lose him again, not now! Not ever! She ran and was about to shift when a sudden chill ran down her body.

,,Aurora!"

She didn't have to turn to know that voice. She stopped anyway. That bastard! He was behind this all!

Aurora turned to face him. She was ready to end this, even if it cost her life.

They stared at each other for a moment.

,,Tell me this isn't true. It's only one big misunderstanding!"

,,What isn't true?" she feigned ignorance.

,,Those traitors turned sides on their own. You aren't helping these worthless little mice, are you?"

She couldn't read his expression. ,,I'm not helping them."

,,Great," he sighed, looking genuinely relieved

,,I am them!"

Tewe blinked and frowned.

,,You... what?" he was shaking his head. He took a step toward her, then back.

,,No... I don't understand," he was pacing like a dog.

The realization finally hit him, the confusion evaporating.

,,YOU BETRAYED ME!"

,,I didn't betray you," she smiled.

He blinked again.

,,I was never on your side in the first place, you frozen piece of eternal shit!" she screamed and gathered all her magic. The sheer force of it thrummed in her ears. Her skull vibrated, skin prickled and hairs stood on ends. She rarely held this much at once. It wanted to tear her apart but she felt more alive than was possible.

Tewe took an involuntary step back. His eyes narrowed. Never before did she let him see her true power. His fear brought twisted satisfaction.

A screech cut the still air. Demons rained from the sky.

"Surprise!" she grinned. Her father's forces arrived unnoticed and now bore their teeth into the back of Tewe's army.

,,You aren't the only one who brought their secret back up!"

Tewe stood as if someone poured boiling water over him. As someone should. His gaze finally snapped back at her.

,,You will pay for this!"

,,Oh, will I?" she boasted. In reality, she had no idea how to win this fight. Or if it was possible in the first place. The battle wasn't a place for doubts.

She had to jump before he froze her to the ground. First screaming about cowards, then using coward's tricks.

Ice speared the air next to her. Not wasting time.

She made a shield and threw fire daggers at him. His cape caught on fire. That only seemed to enrage him more.

Good. She had to make him furious, overtaken by rage. He won't think then and maybe she can trap him somehow. Or she could get crushed.

Love? Karax asked in her mind. He was alive! Relief washed some of her fear.

Not now. She sent him a picture of Tewe lunging at her, his eyes glowing white, wind raging behind him.

She barely managed not to get hit by a giant rock. She might have miscalculated. Barely five minutes in and his rage was already reaching her limit and pushing her to the defensive.
