"NOW go! Before everyone wakes up." Dad said and we both nodded. Hinawakan ni Miguel ang kamay ko at dahan dahan kaming bumaba sa hagdan.

Nang malapit na naming mabuksan ang pinto, biglang bumukas ang lahat ng ilaw sa malapit sa entrance.

"Where do you think you are going?" I froze as I hear that voice. Dahan dahan kaming lumingon sa likod namin and it was my mom who was standing behind us.

Agad na tinago naman ako sa likod ni Miguel.

"Miguel hijo. What an unexpected guest. But I think you got the wrong..." And Mom stared at me. "person."

"I'm not wrong, Tita. The one I want to be with is not Haizel but with Hailey." Seryosong sagot ni Miguel kay Mommy. Bigla namang tumawa ng malakas si Mommy at tumingin na naman saakin.

"I see. But I think you are confused of who is who. Your childhood lover is not Hailey, hijo. It was Haizel." My mom said.

"I only see Haizel as my bestfriend and not my childhood lover." Miguel earnestly said and held my hand. "Hailey is my one and only love." He added.

Gusto kong kiligin sa sinasabi ni Miguel kaso kaharap pala namin si Mommy baka biglang magwala si Mommy kapag nakita niya yun.

"Oh so you choose the fake gem instead of the real gem. That's kinda sad." She said as and it feels like there was a mockery in her voice.

I clenched my fist and tried to calm myself. I don't want to explode my emotions lalo na nasa harap ko si Miguel.

"She maybe a fake gem to you, but she will always be a precious gem in our family. If you wish to disown her, feel free to do that since I'll definitely gonna my surname in her name." Miguel said in his serious voice. This is the first I heard this kind of voice from him.

He was wearing a cold expression like a lion ready to fight for his territory.

"Oh my goodness! Is that a threat? Well I'm willing to give her up if Haizel didn't die. But since Haizel died,  I need someone to who can replace her to act as Haizel so I'll never let Hailey go." Mother said to Miguel. Miguel held my hand tightly like he will never let me go or hand me over to my mom.

"What a nice conversation you have there, son." Halos mapatalon na naman ako sa gulat dahil sa nagsalita sa likod ko. Nakabukas na pala yung pinto pero hindi ko man lang napansin.

Bakit sulpot ng sulpot ang mga tao sa likod ko? Baka atakihin ako sa puso kapag may sumulpot pa ng bigla sa likod ko.

Tumingin ako sa Mommy ni Miguel and she just winked at me. Sa likod ng mommy ni Miguel, naroon ang asawa niya at ang isang kuya ni Miguel.

"Hi there Mrs. Pascua!" Miguel's mom greeted to my mom and waved at her.

"Nice timing, Mrs. Danton. Kindly take your son home so I can teach Hailey a lesson." Halos tumayo ang balahibo ko sa sinabi ni Mommy. When she said lesson, I know that the she was referring was 'Punishment'. She'll punish me for escaping.

"I'm sorry but I can't do that, Mrs. Pascua. Since Hailey is our soon to be daughter-in-law, we need to rescue her." Nakangiting sagot ng Mommy ni Miguel at hinawakan ang kamay ko.

Linapit niya ang ulo niya sa tenga ko at bumulong na, "Don't be afraid. We are here to protect you." A tear escaped from my eyes and nodded at her. I finally feel relaxed now.

"How about we settle this situation in a calm way?" Miguel's dad said. "We don't want to just take Hailey away from this manor so we need to settle everything in a nice way." Dagdag pa niya.

"I agree with you." My dad suddenly said. "How about discussing this matter in our library?" Dad suggested and Miguel's family accepted this suggestion.

We all seated at the sofa set in our library to talk things out. Kung madadala nga talaga sa usap ang lahat.

"How should we settle this matter, Mrs. Pascua?" Miguel's mom asked as she sipped at her tea.

"Well, take your son away from our family and everything will be settled then." Straight forward answer from my mom as always. Wala ng pasikot sikot at agad na sinabi ang gusto niyang sabihin.

"We won't agree to that. Hailey is part of our family now so we won't let you just lock her up in this manor." My heart start to feel joy as I heard that.

Part of their family.

Napangiti ako dahil someone just said that I am part of the family. Sarap sa ears, my gulay.

"Well, Hailey is also part of our family." Napatingin ako sa sinabi ni Mommy. Really? Bakit hindi ko ramdam na naging parte ako ng pamilya to? I'm more like a substitute to my dead sister.

"Oh a family? I thought I was more like a puppet to this family." I commented to my mom's word. Nakita kong nag-iba ang itsura niya dahil sa sinabi ko.

Napatayo bigla ang mommy ni Miguel. "Puppet? Mas lalong hindi namin hahayaan na iwan si Hailey sa bahay na ito." Galit na sambit nito.

"You don't know anything about this family so just leave this house this right now." My mom angrily said and pointed at the door.

"Mrs. Pascua, let me tell you this. Once we leave this house, we will file a case against you. We can't let Hailey stay in this manor." Seryosong wika ng Mommy ni Miguel and I can see a fierce aura from the two of them.

My mom suddenly laughed loudly. "File a case? Don't me laugh. You don't even have an evidence to use." Aniya and looked at Miguel's mom like she was challenging her kung ano pa ba ang kayang ibuga niyang salita.

Napahawak nalang ako sa noo ko. A fight between two woman is really a pain in the head.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you but we have the evidence." Miguel's mom proudly said. Hindi ko alam kung magseseryoso ako sa usapan nila or matutuwa. Para kasi silang mga bata.

"Evidence? Stop bluffing, Mrs. Danton."
My mom awkwardly said and she started to sweat. That's weird? The way I looked at her expression, it seems like my mom is scared to be found as guilty.

"Oh you didn't know? Hailey is the evidence I'm talking about."
