Chapter 5: Stories That Make Me

"I can't believe you actually won a league," Gary said as he laid on the grass, looking up at the stars. "It's pretty hard to believe. Did you hit your head or something?" Ash then hit his friend on the head and glared at him.

"Yes, I was in the Alola league and I won. If you want to see it, the trophy is in my room." Ash turned around to see Goh crossing his arms in frustration.

"I can't believe you're a champion of Alola and you never told me," Goh exclaimed. "We literally flew to Alola and I met your friends there, yet you said nothing." Ash rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment.

"Well, no one really brought it up," Ash chuckled.

"But still," Goh said, still pretty depressed that Ash never told him before. Goh looked over at Chloe who was staring at some photos that Ash brought out. Some of the photos were him and his pokemon, some he saw before, and others he can't recognize. Goh peeked around her shoulder and saw her staring at a picture of Ash and one of his pokemon. Though Goh caught and saw tons of pokemon in his lifetime, he never saw a pokemon like that. He grabbed the photo out of Chloe's hands and shoved it into Ash's face.

"What kind of pokemon is this?" Goh asked, curiously. "And how come it looks a bit like you?" Ash smirked as he took the photo of him and his Greninja. Memories of him and this pokemon started flowing back into his mind. The good, the bad, the happy, and the sad. He loved every moment and enjoyed every second when he was in Kalos.

"This is my pokemon. His name is Greninja, one of the final evolutions of Froakie. Froakie is a water type and one of the starters of Kalos," Ash said, still staring at the picture of him and his water type friend.

"But I've seen Greninjas before, but never like that," Gary said as he pointed at the pokemon in the picture.

"Oh, he's in his Ash-Greninja form," Ash said nonchalantly. Both Chole and Goh looked at him confused, but Gary on the other hand was shocked. He pulled up an article from his Rotom Phone and showed it to Ash.

"Is this it?" Gary asked his friend. "The Bond Phenomenon?"

"Yep, that's it," Ash said as he threw a thumb up. Gary jumped up and down in joy, as if he won the poke-lottery. Gary then calmed down after a few minutes, but still excited that his friend has a pokemon who achieved the bond phenomenon. Chloe stared at him, confused why he's acting like a little girl. She leaned over to Goh, whispering to her friend, "You know what's going on with him?" Goh shook his head.

"WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHERE HE IS?" Gary yelled at Ash, who felt like he just committed a crime.

"Well," Ash started to talk, but was interrupted by an explosion in the distance. The four friends looked up to see smoke coming up from the trees, covering the stars.

"I wonder what happened there?" Goh asked the group.

"I don't know, but we should help out." Ash said. The rest nodded and started making their way to the source of the smoke. Once they got there, they saw debris scattered around everywhere, revealing the culprits behind the explosion.

"I thought that our Mega Meowth 2.0 would work this time," the cat pokemon spoke out. He then looked to see the group of kids running towards them and started to yell. "Jessie! James! The twerps are here!" Like magic, the two adults appeared in thin air, letting out a sinister laugh.

"Team Rocket, what are you doing here?" Goh asked the trio, but they just stood there and continued to laugh. "You think they're ok?" Goh asked, getting Ash to shrug at his response. All of a sudden, an explosion sent the trio high up in the air yelling "We're blasting off again!" And just like that, they disappeared into the night sky.
