Serena took a deep breath as she felt the somber morning breeze brush against her soft silky hair as the sun rose up upon the mountain tops. Dozens of wild Pidgeys flew overhead while the girl watched them dance within the clouds, chirping a cheerful song as if they were performing a small musical. The coordinator couldn't help but let out a gentle smile as her brush ran through her partner's bright yellow fur. Serena's eyes glimmered underneath the sunrise, seeing the sky turn a luminous orange that covered the clouds in many shades of violet. For a split second, she felt a small chill run down her spine, feeling another frigid zephyr hit the side of her arm. While the clouds began to drift farther away into the far distance, she listened closely as footsteps behind her gradually came closer.
"It's pretty nice out here, isn't it?" The girl heard a familiar voice, turning her head towards the doorway. The coordinator grinned as she watched her Kanto-native boyfriend taking the open seat next to her, dangling his feet over the porch ledge. "I'm surprised you're up this early. Did you have trouble sleeping?" The Kalos native shook her head as her gaze was set back onto the dazzling aurora sunbeams that shone over the majestic Earth below.
"I wanted to wake up early to watch the sunrise. Sorry if I worried you or anything," the girl replied. "But I did have a good night's sleep. Thanks for asking." Ash snickered at her comment, still keeping his eyes on his girlfriend. It wasn't everyday that he could enjoy some time alone with his girlfriend ever since traveling in a big group. The two of them sat near silence as they continued to watch the sun creep up from the horizon, only to shed some of its heat onto the land. Even though they have announced the news of them dating to their friends, they have yet to tell their parents, which puts a bitter taste in the coordinator's mouth. It was true that the moment her and Ash became official, she wanted to call her mom and tell her all about it. But the one problem still remained in her head. How could she ever tell her mother? Should she tell her mom that the reason she wanted to start her journey in the first place was to meet the Kanto-native once again? Does Ash himself even know that? She took a quick glance over at her boyfriend and sighed, almost forgetting that Braxin was still sleeping peacefully on her lap.
"So," Serena said, breaking the weird tension that started to form around the two trainers. "What's our plan for today? Cause I was thinking of practicing for the next competition, with Pikachu..." The girl paused for a moment as she looked around with a confused look plastered onto her face. "By the way, where is Pikachu anyway? Isn't he always by your side 24/7?" The boy couldn't help but chuckle.
"Oh," Ash responded as his laughter subsided, looking towards Serena. "He was still asleep when I left the room. I didn't want to wake him up yet since you worked him pretty hard yesterday." Ash added, remembering Serena's intense training that she made the yellow mouse go through. His girlfriend let out a warm smile as she leaned her head onto her boyfriend's shoulder.
"I just want everyone to see Pikachu's beauty in his moves," she replied while closing her eyes, feeling the morning breeze sweep her hair upwards. "But I should probably go easy on him since the competition is in a few days. Don't want to overwork him now." Ash smirked while imagining Serena standing next to a near fainted Pikachu in a classy tuxedo. "But besides that..." the coordinator paused for a moment while placing her attention onto her sleeping pokemon. "Can I tell you something? It's pretty embarrassing, so don't you dare laugh."
"Ok," Ash said with a grin. "But I can't promise you I won't." Serena turned towards her boyfriend and gave him a childish pouting face, but quickly shook it off with a smile. Her eyes then turned to the dawning sky. "Just a moment ago, you seemed so far away from me, isn't that kind of funny? I've been thinking of that for the longest time ever since we first departed from one another. And to think we have reunited for about a month, time sure flies pretty quickly when you're enjoying the moment."
