Ash leaned on the railings of the balcony of his room as he watched the stars fly past him, creating a small smile on his face. He carefully listened to the feet clatter of Vermilion City as she stared off into the distance, watching the comet fly by. He sighed as he closed his eyes, listening to waves crashing into the walls of the bay area. He then opened his eyes and heard footsteps coming towards him.
"Did you find the pokemon?" he asked, turning around to see an old rival standing in front of him. Gary shook his head and let out a defeated sigh.
"No, I couldn't," Gary said as he made his way to the railings, leaning against the cold steel rails. He sighed once more as he felt the wind brush against his hair. Ash watched his friends as she too laid against the railing, letting out a sigh of depression. "You ok dude?" Ash turned his head slightly and saw his best friend looking at him with a worried face on his face. "Your really never gloomy like that."
"I'm not sure what's going on," Ash said as his slowly turned into a gloomy mood.
"Same her bro," Gary said as he patted his friend's back. "Same here." They watched the sky in silence, hoping they could figure out what to do next, but the wind blew harder, causing Ash's hat to fall off his head.
"My hat," he said as she rushed out his room, leaving his friend behind, and ran out of the building, looking up into the air and seeing his hat in the hands of a pokemon. Ash squinced at the mysterious pokemon, but it then leapt from building to building, farther away from the Kanto trainer. "Hey! Wait up!" Ash yelled out as he ran after the pokemon. The ninja-like pokemon darted from roof to roof as it ran farther away from the trainer and back into the forest where Ash found the Alolan girl and his sister. He ran through the bushes, getting scratches and pricks onto his rams, but kept on running. He finally ran through the last bush that was now in a plain full of flowers, surrounding a small meadow in the middle of the grassy field. The wind blew dust into the air, creating small sparkle clouds, blocking the trainer's vision a bit. As the dust settled, Ash opened his eyes and saw a familiar old friend standing in front of him. Ash smiled from ear to ear as he ran up to the pokemon and hugged him, not wanting to let go. Suddenly, a vertex of water covered the two being, but it then formed a giant Water Shuriken on the back of the pokemon. "Nice to see you again," Ash said to his pokemon as he put his fist out. The pokemon smiled and pumped it, full of joy.
It is nice. The pokemon said telepathically as it smiled back to his trainer. The pokemon then took out his trainer's hat and handed it to the boy. I believe you lost this earlier. Ash thanked him and took the hat, placing it back onto his head. Ash then grinned as he eyed his pokemon.
"How come you made me run all the way here?" Ash asked the ninja pokemon. "You know running through those bushes hurts." Greninja's face then turned serious as he stood there with his arms crossed.
I don't want them to hear us. Ash looked at his pokemon, confused.
"What do you mean?" Greninja shook his head in disappointment.
A few days ago, Z-1 received a message from one of his cells that the pokemon Mew has been spotted and captured. Ash's eyes shot wide open as he took all the information in. Greninja went on. They both sent me here to protect it, but I never thought you would be tied with this mess.
"What? You mean one of my friends caught Mew," Ash said. "Goh would be heart broken."
What was that?
"Nothing," Ash said as he smiled at the pokemon. "Wait, are you going to travel with me again." The pokemon nodded.
For now, but I can wait in the shadows until you get my pokeball from the professor.
"Why don't we go grab it right now," Ash said, happiness filling him to the brim.
It was late at night when Serena decided to take a walk to cool off. She quietly walked out of her room, trying not to wake May and Dawn up, and walked down the stairs to the lobby. The building felt empty, though it felt it was full of pokemon and people. She sat down on the coach as she let out Sylveon and decided to groom her ribbons. She hummed the toon of 'Be Brave' as she continued to brush her pokemon. She smiled, but on the corner of her eye, she saw a person tiptoeing to one of the video machines, turning it on and a bright light popped up onto the screen.
"Oh, hi there Ash," Professor Oak said through the screen.
"Sorry for waking you..."
"No worries," the professor said, interrupting the trainer. "I was just finishing up my search. Anything I can do for you?" The boy nodded and took out one of his pokeballs and put it in front of the screen.
"I would like to transfer Drakovich into Greninja's pokeball," the boy said as he put the pokeball in the transfer container. Serena kept her distance not to be spotted and watched the trainer receive the old Kalos pokeball.
"Anything else?" Professor Oak asked. Ash thought for a bit and smiled as he took out one more pokeball.
"Can you send Infernape to me?" Ash said as he put another pokeball back onto the transfer container. Serena, confused, continued to watch the trainer receive another pokeball, then saying goodbye to the professor and turning off the video camera.
You're not alone, Greninja said telepathically to his trainer. Suddenly, Greninja jumped onto the roof of the building and looked through the sunroof for Ash to see. There, in the shadows, was a silhouette of a person standing behind the boy. Ash instantly turned around to see a girl standing behind him.
"Who's there?" Ash asked. A few seconds later, a girl emerged out of the darkness.
"What's up," she said as she put her arms behind her back. Behind her was her ribbon pokemon. Ash looked up to her eyes and smiled.
"What are you doing up so late?" Ash asked the girl.
"I should ask you the same question," Serena said with a smirk. "How come you have Greninja's pokeball?" Ash looked at the pokeball in his hand and grinned a bit.
You like her don't you? Greninja chuckled. You should tell her.
"Not now," Ash whispered to himself.
"What did you say?" Serena asked the boy.
"Wha-umm N-nothing really." Ash said. "Whelp, I'm going to bed. Good night." And with that, he darted out of the room, leaving the girl and his pokemon confused.
