After the incident with the wild Nidoking, Gary and Lillie made their way to Vermilion City. The trip to the city was long and awkward, where Gary was walking slightly ahead of the Alolan girl, preparing his pokeball if there was an attack. He stared at the everlasting ground in deep thought until the girl's voice broke him out of his trance.

"Sorry, what did you say" the boy asked as he turned his head to face the girl.

"I was just wondering where are you heading?" she asked. "I'm heading to Vermilion City to meet up with my brother." Gary nodded and smiled.

"Same here," he said as turned back to face the front of the trail. "I'm actually going to the new lab there." Lillie looked at him, intrigued. She opened her mouth, but was interrupted by a couple of rain drops that started hitting Snowy's nose.

"It's raining?" Lillie asked as she looked up into the sky. "It was sunny just a minute ago." Gary starred up into the sky, hearing the faint crackling in the distance. Without hesitation, he grabbed her hand and started running faster, trying to beat the storm before they got drench in it.

"There," Gary said as he pointed at a crack in the mountain, big enough for both of them to stay inside. The boy leaned against the wall as he sighed in relief. He then looked over to the girl, who was trying her best to dry out her hair. Hw then took out his pokeball and sent out his Magmar, making it light a small fire for both of them, keeping them warm through the cold weather. "Are you good?" he asked the girl who was still trying to dry off her hair. She let out a weak smile, nodding, then looked down at the sleeping Vulpix in her arms.

"As long as she is ok, I'm ok too," she said with a smile as she stared at her partner. Gary sighed once more as he took a look out of the cave. The water droplets covered the trees in water, making them feel more lively than ever. Lille then took a look as well, staring at the water droplets as they hit the ground. She then heard a faint cry through the trees, making her tense up a bit.

"Did you hear that," Lillie asked the boy. Gary shook his head as he watched the girl look out into the wet trees. "There's that cry again," she said again.

"I don't hear any..." He was then interrupted by a sudden cry, not from a human, nor a pokemon he heard before.

"You heard that right?"

"Yah, now I can," Gary said as he looked out to the trees. Suddenly, Lillie bolted out of the cave, making a run for the cry. Gary, surprised, ran after the girl as fast as he could, but his vision blurred by the water droplets. He couldn't just let her wander off like into the storm with no place to go, so he started running after her again. It didn't take long for Gary to find the girl under the tree as she stared in, looking up into the leaves. "What are you looking at?" he asked. Lillie shushed him as she pointed up to the tree. Gary winced up into the tree, seeing a glimpse of a Mankey's tail, whimpering and hanging on for dear life. "What's a Mankey doing here in the Vermilion forest?"

"I'm going up there," the girl said as she tried to find a grip on the trunk of the tree. Gary looked at her like crazy.

"Are you insane?" Gary questioned her, but it was no use. Lillie houseted herself up into the trunk as she started climbing up the tree, trying to get the wild pokemon safely into her arms. As she reached the top, the wind blew harder and harder as the rain crashed onto her face. She saw the Mankey and pulled out her hand, trying to grab the monkey like pokemon.

"It's ok," Lillie said as she crawled inches closer to the pokemon. "I'll protect you." The Mankey opened his eyes as he watched the Alolan girl crawl closer. The wind brew harder than ever before, making the branch rock back and forth. Lillie felt the rain hit her back as she laid on the branch. She knew the branch would snap, making her and the helpless pokemon hit the ground with full force, so she held her hand out a little bit longer then before, trying to grab the small monkey. The Mankey sniffed the human girl and leapt into Lillie's arms. "There you go," she said as she rubbed Mankey's fur. "You're safe now." She then proceeded climbing down the tree and put both of her feet back onto the ground. She looked around to see a drenched boy standing under the tree, glaring at the girl.

"What were you thinking?!?" he yelled. "You could've gotten yourself hurt, or worse." Lillie just smiled and held up the Mankey in her arms. Gary groaned as he grabbed her wrist, running back to the cave with Lillie following inches behind him.

"You're glad that I'm so nice," Gary said as he watched the girl pet both her and the wild pokemon. Gary grinned and sat down next to the girl. The silence between them was filled with the crackling flames of the campfire and the drizzling rain running down the cave entrance. He sighed and turned towards the girl. "How are you feeling?" he asked, making Lillie pop her head up, looking the boy into the eyes. "You ok?" Lillie smiled and nodded, looking down to the two pokemon's in her lap.

"As long as they are ok, I'm ok," she said as she petted the pokemons' fur.

"You know," Gary said. "I think you should think about catching the pokemon." Lillie looked over at the boy and smiled, then looking back at the pokemon.

"You want to journey with me and Snowy?" the girl asked the monkey. The wild pokemon thought about it for a bit, until it shook his head. Lillie nodded, smiling. "I understand," she said as she put down the Mankey.

"You're not going to catch it?" Gary asked. Lillie shook her head.

"I don't want to force him if he doesn't want to," she said as she looked at the Mankey. Night fell shortly. Mankey watched the rain stop. The monkey turned towards the sleeping boy and girl who was leaning against one another. It smiled, giggling at the two teens sleeping together. Just then, a flash of light covered the Mankey, making it transform into a different form. It's paws grew smaller and closer to it's pink skin. It's tail grew longer, making it wave in the wind behind the wild pokemon. Mew giggled as it flew to the face of the sleeping girl. Mew then used his pink tail to rub the nose of the girl, making her sneeze, waking her up to see the pink pokemon infront of her.

"Who are you?" Lillie whispered to the pokemon, trying not to wake up the sleeping boy. Mew giggled and a bright light appeared in front of Lillie, blinding her for a few seconds, until a certain Mankey appeared, sitting on her lap. "You can transform? Are you a Ditto?" Mew then quickly transformed into a purple blob pokemon. She watched in amazement, watching the pink pokemon turn into many different pokemons. She smiled and took out her hand slowly, making sure not to scare the pokemon away. Mew sniffed her hand and smiled, as it dove into her arms. It's soft soothing fur rubbed against the girl's skin as she cuddled with the mysterious pokemon. A few minutes later, Mew leaped out of the girls arms and went inside of her bag. Lillie watched the pink pokemon as it reappeared outside of the girl's bag, holding a pokeball in it's hand. She put two and two together and smiled at the pokemon as she grabbed the pokeball from it's hands.

"You want to travel with us?" Lillie asked the pokemon. Mew looked at the girl, then to the pokeball, then back to the girl. Her eyes were filled with kindness and passion, making the pokemon give in and touch the front of the ball. The sun rose from the distance as land was filled with water droplets shimmering in the morning sky. Gary yawned as he stretched his arms out. He then looked around the cave to see a certain girl, holding the monkey pokemon in her hands. He watched her cuddle with the pokemon as her icey Vulpix jumped into her lap with a grateful smile. Gary grinned as she spoke out to the girl.

"You look like you're having fun," he said, making the girl turn her head, facing the boy. She smiled and held up the pokemon in her arms.

"Guess who is traveling with us for a bit," she said with a smile as brought the Mankey into a gigantic hug. Gary chuckled as she grabbed his gear that was scattered around the cave floor and took a sip of water from his bottle.

"You ready?" the boy asked, receiving a nod from the girl.
