Chapter 9: Ready

"Hello everyone, who is ready for this year's first Contest of the year?" Lilian yelled out the roaring crowd, causing the whole arena to shake with thunderous applause. She smiled as she pointed to the stage as the lights dimmed and the floor opened in the middle.

"She is from the watery region of Hoenn and loved by all folks of all regions around," she announced as a girl appeared on the stage. "Please give a warm welcome to May." Everyone in the arena clapped as May waved her hands up into the air as she smiled. She looked down towards her Glaceon beside her wearing a ribbon on her neck.

"You ready girl?" May said to her pokemon, receiving a smile from Glaceon. "Alright, Glaceon uses Secret Power," she yelled out pointing up into the air. Within seconds, blue balls were launched up into the air above May, causing them to collide with one another, making beautiful blue glitter particles fall amongst the audience. "Now use Ice Shard and Shadow ball." Glaceon obeyed and launched dark purple orbs everywhere, getting gradually closer to the audience. One orb was about to hit Ash in the face, but disappeared when an ice spear pierced the ball, causing purple and blue glitter to fall down onto the arena. Another set of Shadow Balls were sent flying into the air as they circled around the ice type pokemon.

"Glaceon, let's finish with a Mirror Coat!" May shouted as the ice type pokemon jumped into the air unleashing a visible shield, reflecting the balls into each other, sending purple dust dance through the air. "Finished!" she yelled as she put up her hand into the air as dust continued to drop onto the field. The crowd cheered as May waved her hands into the air.

"Wow," Linian announced as she got onto the stage with May. "What an amazing performance you just did. We'll be back shortly for our next Contestant, so sit back and relax while we set up the next Coordinator."

"That's what a contest is," Ash said as he watched May exit the stage. "She grew stronger the last time we met. Then again, it has been more than a couple years." Ash turned his head and saw Chloe and Goh star struck. "I'm guessing you enjoyed her performance?" Goh nodded as he watched the purple glitter slowly fall from the ceiling.

"I never really thought you would be the type of guy that would like these kinds of stuff, Ash," Chloe giggled, grabbing Ash's attention.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, you're into pokemon battling non-stop and I never really thought you would sit through a whole Contest without thinking of training." Ash thought for a minute and chuckled, making Goh look at him funny.
"Why are you laughing?" Goh asked as he watched Alola champion continue to giggle in his seat.

"Well, I actually took in some contests of my own, though it's not my cup of tea, I had fun taking part in them," Ash said with his iconic smile. "During these contests, I actually get ideas and strategies while watching them play out." Chloe listened, amazed, that Ash used the experiences from his friends to help him achieve his goals as a trainer. Goh smiled and pointed at the stage as the lights dimmed.

"I think the next person is up," he said as the announcer went up to the stage.

"Thank you for waiting," Linian announced as she walked up near the center of the stage. The trap doors opened and Linian stood there smiling as she continued to speak. "Now this trainer came from the far reaches of Kalos. She made her way through Master Class and came runner up. Please give a warm welcome to Serena." Cheers filled the arena like wildfire. Seconds later, Serena appeared in the middle of the stage, standing next to her fury pink friend. Serena smiled as looked around the arena, taking it all in. She looked down to face Sylveon and continued to smile.

"Alright Sylveon, use swift and use Moonblast," she said as Sylveon started to dance on the stage. The pokemon then launched a big pink orb into the air, followed by tons of small stars, hitting the bottom of the ball. As the ball came flying down, Serena pointed at the ball and Sylveon used her Fairy Wind to control the sparkling ball. "Alright Sylveon, Iron Tail." Ash, surprised, watched the dancing pokemon jump into the air and hit the ball, sending out stardust like glitter into the air Sylveon landed onto the ground on her all four. She smiled as she raised up her hand and shouted "Finished." Within seconds, the crowd went wild as the Kalos girl smiled to the audience. Ash smiled as he watched the girl disappear underneath the stage.
