Chapter 15: Capture

 Drew sat on the bench as he looked at his tablet, reading the news. He then turned off his device and sighed as he looked up at his pokewatch.

"He should be here by now," Drew said to himself. "He can be a drag sometimes." Suddenly, he heard footsteps, making him turn his head to see a green head boy standing in front of him. "What took you so long Sawyer?" Drew asked the Hoenn trainer. Sawyer smiled and let out a chuckle with a hint of embarrassment.

"Sorry," the trainer replied as he took out two pieces of paper out of his pockets. "I just ran into a friend of mine at the airport." Drew shook his head and chuckled to himself as he helped his cousin with his bag.

"So what have you been up to lately?" Drew asked as they walked to the nearest pokemon center. Sawyer smiled and took out his journal, opening it to a page filled with images of weird looking roots.

"I was working on a project with Steven Stone and Diantha, trying to destroy the rest of the vines in Kalos."

"Oh, I heard of that," Drew said as he looked at the pictures in the journal. "I saw clips of what happened in Lumiose. That looked pretty scary." Sawyer nodded. Drew turned a few more pages and saw a photo of him and Ash hanging out together with Serena and two other people. "You know Ash?" Sawyer smiled as he looked up into the sky, remembering the amazing battle they had during his final Kalos league match.

"Yah," Sawyer said. "He was my rival when I challenged the Kalos League." Just then, a shadow swooped down from a nearby tree and swiped the book out of Drews hand. Shocked, Sawyer looked up to see a Mankey on top of the tree, looking through the journal.

"Hey, give that back!" Sawyer yelled at the pokemon. The Mankey looked at the trainer and shook its head at the boy. It then jumped down from the tree and started running away from the two trainers. "Get back here!" Sawyer yelled as he started running after the mocking monkey pokemon. Drew rolled his eyes and started to run after his cousin. Suddenly, an electric net flew into the air, catching the Mankey, making it drop the book. Electricity flowed through the net, shocking the pokemon, making the Mankey scream in pain. Shocked, the two trainers stopped to see who's net that was. Seconds later, a man started pulling the net towards him, dragging the almost fainted pokemon to him.

"What do you think you're doing?" Drew said as he got his pokeball out, but stopped when Dark Pulse shot him, knocking the ball out of his hand. Sawyer turned around to see a Team Rocket grunt standing behind them.

"Thanks for making our job easier," one of them said he threw up a pokeball into the air, revealing a Gulbat. Drew eyed the man and quickly threw up another pokeball quickly before the Rocket grunts knocked it away. A flash of light burst out of the ball, revealing his Absol who was ready to battle. A sinister chuckle embraced the two trainers, making them turned around to see a man with a Team Rocket emblem on his chest. The man wore dark blue straps on his shoulders and was built like a heavy weight lifter. He grinned as a grunt handed him the captured pokemon.

"Who are you?" Sawyer questioned as held out a pokeball, aiming it at the man.

"Thank you so much for helping us out again," the man said to the boys. "I can't tell you how much this rascal is to capture." He then took a good look at the captured pokemon, making him smirk.

"You didn't answer me," Sawyer said as he sent out his trusty partner. "Who are you?"

"You are looking at the man who helps spread fear throughout Kanto," the man said. "Again, thank you for your service." With that, two Koffings appeared in front of the man, unleashing a massive smokescreen, blinding the view of the two trainers. After a few seconds passed, the smoke cleared, having the only thing in front of them is the missing journal. Sawyer grabbed his book and turned to his cousin with a passionate look.
