CHAPTER 2

2030 CE
Astarlla's POV

“Good morning class,” Bungad niya sa amin. "I'm sorry, I got late. We just had an urgent meeting a while ago regarding to what happened in the National Planetarium tour last Friday."

I remembered, something strange happened last Friday at the National Planetarium. Astarria just got unconscious. I don't know what happened to her. Luckily, we brought her to the hospital and the doctor said she just experienced dizziness. But she's okay now.

Inilapag niya ang bag at libro niya sa lamesa, “Okay, let's start.”

“Stephanie Garber said, once the future is foretold, that future becomes a living thing and it will fight very hard to bring itself about,” our teacher—Mrs. Geneva voiced out. She's the older sister of Ms. Genevie of the science department.

What about the false beliefs then? They are foretold and predicted as future but ended up being falsehood. Like our ancestors believe about the flat earth but as knowledge foster and technology was improved, it is proven wrong and nothing but illusory. Nothing or no one can forsee the future. We predict but we don't forsee.

There are a lot of theories formed such as the evolution of human saying that man came from ape but what happened about it? It was tossed into somewhere, banished and forgotten.

Sabagay, ilang teorya at paniniwala na ba ang sinalungat ko? Hindi ko pa nakitang nagtugma ang siyensiya at pilosopiya.
“Does it mean when you predict, it happened accurately?” One of my classmate asked.

“That's what quantum physics say. It predicts very strange things about how matter works that are completely at odds with how things seem to work in the real world,” Our teacher said while walking around the class.

“Lavien.” Nagulantang ang babaeng nasa harap ko nang ituro siya ni Mrs. Geneva “State your opinion about the quote.”

She stood up and spoke.

“Prediction doesn't mean to be miraculous or some kind of other supernatural power. We can always tell accurately what's going to happen in the future, yet, we never believe in our prediction. Just like what Mariah Carey said in her song, there could be miracle when you believe.”

Stupid. Not all that we believe is true.

“Good statement, who else can give their own opinion?”

Astellar raised her hand. “Yes, Astellar?”

“Based on pre-determinism, all events of history, past, present and future, including human actions have been already decided or are already predicted.”

Hoax! Even the one of the smartest person—Albert Einstein never think of the future.

“So you all agree on the quote?”

No. I don't.

“Perhaps. We foretell and imagine things in our mind and it turns out to be true. At nangyayari naman somehow 'di ba? So for me I agree,” said the girl in front of our teacher.

Napailing nalang ako sa hindi pagsangayon. If instinct is a natural ability in thinking and imagining the future events, it's not foreseeing at all, unless you are a damn prophet.

“Have you heard anything about Nostradamus?” Tanong pa ulit ng teacher namin.

“The astrologer who predicted the time of his death.” napatingin sa ‘kin lahat ng kaklase ko.

“You're right. They say he foresaw the future. Do you believe in it?” Wika ni Mrs. Geneva. Hindi naman nakapagsalita ang buong klase. “Anyone?”

It's time for me to talk and be heard so I directly stood up smartly.
