...and through the hot currents of the geysers. The air slowed Link down a bit as he fell, but he still extended his hand out as he neared the ground. Quickly, he rolled over himself to help absorb the impact.
Endeavor's cape trailed above them as they landed, almost parachuting as they descended. They landed softly beside Link and drew their sword. Link drew his own as he studied his surroundings.
There was the sound of the geysers above them, and then there was the sound of deep heaving and scales being dragged over stone. Link heard a hiss, and turned to face it. As he did, the ground began to crack. A red glow appeared around the edges, illuminating the room.
It had been a massive clawed paw that had caused the damage. As the floor crumbled away around the edges, the paw retreated with a bellowing roar behind it.
Link looked as the roof collapsed on the monster. It raged, only causing more chaos for itself. It was what looked like a giant lizard, with dark blue-green scales and a long, fat face. The creature thrashed its head around as it found itself stuck under the wall, rocking the platform Endeavor and he were left to stand on.
Finally accepting that it was stuck, the monster turned its hollow blue eyes toward the two sword bearers. It, no she, opened her massive maw and roared at them. Fire blazed out of the creature's innards, forcing Endeavor and Link to quickly jump out of the way.
Something caught on Link's boot, causing him to spiral again over himself. His head slid over the edge before he finally stopped sliding. He turned back to see what had tripped him, and saw a brown-yellow vine that had fallen down.
Looking up, Link saw where the vine had fallen from. Small, round, blue blubs extended from the wall on the remaining part of the wall. The wall crumbled some more, and the vine dropped down to the back of the platform. Link could see the bulbs better now. They had yellow stems coming out of the top, which began to curl up the longer they sat there.
Link dropped to the floor as another turret of fire went over his head. There was an explosion behind him. Link turned around and saw the remains of an explosion on the jaw of the monster. She shook her head, before spitting another jet of fire at Endeavor.
Endeavor dropped to the ground. The massive lizard opened her mouth to roar. Link pulled himself to his feet quickly, and grabbed the vine. He spun it around, quickly releasing before it could wrap around him. The monster inhaled, sucking in the vine before she could let out her roar.
The monster's head jerked up. More rocks crumbled down, freeing her a little more from her rocky prison. Sensing the change in her encasing, she thrashed her head around with a fast fan of flames. Link pulled up his shield, the flames breaking around him. Link cringed as the heat seared against his earlier wound.
A few more vines of bomb flowers fell from the ground. Link ducked as one of the monster's paws swiped out over his head. The giant lizard tried to pull her body loose once more, giving Link a moment to back out of her reach.
Endeavor shouted, "How did you figure out her weakness so quickly?"
"I don't know!" Link shouted back. "It was just there. I thought I might as well try."
"Well, do it again!" Endeavor ordered. "And quickly before this whole shaft caves in on us!"
Running off to the edge of the platform, Endeavor continued to distract the creature as it tried to pry its paws free. Link started to reach for another vine when a smaller hiss made him stop. Link raised his shield as a smaller spurt of fire came at him.
