…and stepped into the shop. It was dimly lit, and still in shambles. Crates and boxes were scattered everywhere. There was a bang, followed by the appearance of a black haired girl from beneath the counter. She rubbed her head and turned towards them. Teal lines spread across her pale skin in intricate patterns, but Link didn’t think they were tattoos. More like birthmarks. Only her face escaped the marks, which only made her pale yellow eyes stand out even more.

            Freya stated, “She’s a twili.”

Link blinked, realizing he had been staring a bit. The twili smiled, saying, “You’re fine. We’re a bit more shocking, aren’t we?” She extended her hand across the counter. “I’m Mirum. I’m…um…well, unpacking right now, but eventually this will be a potion shop.”

Leaning up over the counter, Freya said, “We need a potion. It’s really important.”

“Well, I wish I could help,” Mirum replied. “But I’m not quite moved in.”

“But it’s important! We need a potion so he can get to the Water Temple!” Freya exclaimed.

Mirum chuckled. “What, is this the Hero or something?” Freya nodded vigorously as Link looked away. Mirum’s eyes widened. “You’re not serious are you? The Hero? Here…” She started breathing rapidly. She placed her hand on her heart, and tried to slow down her breathing. She asked when she had recovered, “You needed my help?”

Freya said, “We need to find the wolfos den in this storm, but he doesn’t have any fur.”

“What are you talking about? He-” Mirum stopped. She replied after a moment, “Alright…I think I have an idea.”

Link glanced down at Freya, who shrugged. Mirum went on from behind her counter, “You know, Hylians are very special. The effects of other worlds don’t bother them. The Dark Realm, the Twilight Realm, Lorule. Nothing, they don’t turn to spirits. Either they don’t change at all, or they become animals. Even transformations like that are far more useful than spirits.”

She walked back towards the counter, swishing the contents of a vial around. She kept her eyes on the vial as she spoke, “The Hero himself has taken on many shapes. A wolf, a rabbit, a lion, a Loftwing.”

Link’s eyes bulged a bit, and he opened his mouth to say something, but Mirum cut him off. “Fortunately for us, I do know some Twilight magic. We should be able to get something similar to a transformation.”

Mirum handed the vial to Freya and said, “That’s for his friend who’s pacing outside the door for you two.” Link glanced over his shoulder to see Bruce’s shadow in the window. Suddenly, Mirum grabbed his wrist and pulled him up against the counter. Link turned around and found himself face to face with her glowing yellow eyes.

Something pricked his arm, and he grimaced as something pushed itself into his arm. The thing pulsated in his arm as Mirum let go. The same markings as Mirum’s expanded across Link’s arm for a moment before they vanished. Mirum said, “This is a small dose of Twilight magic, the same kind of magic that allowed you to turn into a wolf in one of your past lives. You’ll need to come back to have it removed. It won’t turn you into anything, just gives you some…more animal abilities. I would hurry. Exposure to that kind of magic isn’t too good for the mind.”

“Then why did you put it in my arm?” Link asked, rubbing it.

“You said you needed a way through the storm. There you have it. A way through the storm,” Mirum replied. She smiled, the glow in her eyes fading. She said, “Well, you were in such a rush just a moment ago.”
