…up to the platform where they had seen Sayyida and Zeal fighting. The wind billowed up around the dome. Beneath them, the sound of the volcano roared like a dragon.
Zeal’s black shawl danced aimlessly in the wind, a needless distraction. Sayyida was doubled over, leaning on her sword. Link knew the pirate’s pride wouldn’t let her fall, but she must have been seriously wounded to use her blade as a cane. He saw her other hand clutching her side. Even closer to them, he saw Omar unconscious. His mad dash in had left him open for attack. The man was still breathing, but barely.
The white haired woman paced around the bent Sage, and looked at Link and his party. She said, “Oh, dear, looks like they finally joined us.” She strode past Sayyida, and looked at Link. “It took you quite a while. Of course, no Sage of Din would ever agree to assistance.” She glanced back at Sayyida. “I have no doubt you had a good deal of resistance trying to get here.”
Link ignored the jabs. His eyes kept glancing to Sayyida, making sure the Sage was alright. The pirate captain was struggling as it was. She needed to get out of this fight.
“Oh, Link,” Zeal baited. Link looked over, and saw the woman draw forth his blade. The Master Sword gleamed, but the glow seemed pained. The blade was not supposed to be wielded by any other hand. And Link very much wanted his sword back.
The Drex smiled, pleased with herself. She extended the sword out before tossing it behind her. The sword buried itself into the rocky ground. She went on, “I doubt you’ll be getting that back easily. The games end now, Hero. This is the domain of Din, and the Demon Lord commands Her Power.” Zeal turned away, and raised her arms towards the sky. The earth began to tremble beneath them.
Endeavor braced behind him. She gripped his arm, “She is going to snare Sayyida’s soul. Give me your instrument.”
Yore ducked in above them, the bow of Endeavor’s violin caught in his talons. Close behind him came Journey, the white wolf gripped delicately in her maw. Endeavor gripped the two pieces, and ran the bow over the strings. She began muttering in some language that Link inferred to be the language of the Drex.
He had heard this song before, in Goron City. The deep notes shook the earth, rattling Link to his core. He looked across at Zeal. The Drex was struggling to maintain the spell she was creating. Four, silver, ghostly cords erupted from her arms. Arms reached from the ends, racing towards Sayyida. And for a moment, the terrifying form that had haunted Link’s dreams appeared from their midst.
Then, as suddenly as they had come, the image shattered. One final note rolled off of Endeavor’s strings as the strings dropped limply to the ground. Endeavor lowered her instrument and looked across at Zeal.
The Sage was livid. She pointed a finger at Endeavor, shaking with rage. “You…you have brought Her here. You contest with gods!”
“And you put yourself above Them,” Endeavor retorted. “You cannot not control everything.”
Zeal sneered. Her head dropped back, a wicked laughter spilling out. She threw her arms wide. “I will face the gods and conquer them! I will be Order!” Her head came forward. “And I will command your death.”
Endeavor shouted, “You fool!” But the outburst was too late. The woman burst forth with ribbons and chains, the ghostly hands searching. They didn’t last long enough for the Demon Lord to return. Granted, Link wasn’t sure if he could, based on the outburst that had just occured. The hands reached out, grabbing at Sayyida. The Sage braced herself, but in her weakened condition, there was nothing she could do.
