...and into the quiet earth below. The earth pulled them forward faster, the Earth Sages at the front as their song continued. There was a small dais they were standing on, ever moving ahead with of Link and Zelda to guide the procession.

There were no words for the many miles they rode. Only the song before them and the hooves below. There was nothing to say.

A noon sun welcomed them to Hyrule Field. The Earth Sages fell back as the army rode out of the hill beneath the Hero's Shrine. Link looked back once to see it still standing. Beyond it though, smoke still rose from Castle Town.

They stopped at the crest of a hill overlooking the fields below. Lon Lon Ranch rose to the southwest, but it was the dark line blotting out the river before them that drew Link's attention.

Rows of monsters stood barring the crossing into Gerudo Desert. Lake Hylia was cast in shadow by the line, the fires from the resort settlement on its banks long since gone out.

"What a warm welcome," Daniel remarked, joining the front of the line as they held to survey, their last ranks leaving the tunnels.

Zelda grimaced, her head forward to hide any hesitation. "We were expecting more."

"These forces are likely to weaken us before we can reach Fort Lanayru," Endeavor remarked beside her. "We can expect more resistance further in."

"He wants to see our offense to determine what he needs to reinforce the portal," Zelda stated, the many hours with Daniel in war meetings showing.

Endeavor and Daniel agreed with this assessment, to which Daniel added, "And exhaust our troops. We will be less prepared for a second fight after wading through this mess."

Link watched the line below, the true depth of it all finally settling in. Behind, he heard the stone passage seal as their forces exited the underground, protecting those they'd left behind in Akkal. And blocking any retreat.

"Link!"

Turning in his saddle, Link saw Princess breaking from the other Sages and riding to the front. She was wearing a long black dress that highlighted her more Blin-like features, the tusks even more visible from the contrast. Still, she held her head high to any challenges. She rode side-saddle well for someone who'd only learned how a few days ago.

"I think it's time for your promise," Princess said, pulling her horse to a halt beside him. She produced the Soul Medallion and handed it out to him.

Link took the medallion and then back at Princess. "Right now?"

Princess grinned brighter. "Oh, yes. I think it's time."

Turning back over to Endeavor, Link looked for confirmation. The Drex nodded and Yore took flight. Link lifted the medallion up above his head and allowed the hawk to snatch it away.

Yore's wings burst with the pale purple magic. Murmuring rolled through the ranks as the bird expanded, wings growing wider and wider, until a dragonfly winged dragon, many wispy tendrils trailing behind like coral, took shape overhead.

And then, it shattered. Link turned to Endeavor with concern before looking back at the falling purple magic. Thousands of little purple lights flickered down over the field, before they turned and began flying at the army.

It was only as they got closer Link saw what those lights really were. Thousands of miniature dragonfly winged dragons fell down on the army, each colliding into a chest as magic washed over them.
