…and into Frostbite Village. The herd of goats were being led into a corral as Frostbar walked away with another yeti almost as big as him. Daniel waved from up the road, before riding towards a large building with a sign that said inn. A few anouki led horses away to a stable outside the building, and Link figured there must have been some celebration going on in there.

Link walked Epona into the stable. He patted the horse on her nose, before beginning to pull her saddle off. An anouki stable hand walked up to Link, saying, “We can handle your horse.”

Epona snorted, and tossed her head. Link replied, “I’d really rather take care of her myself.”

The anouki sneered. “I’m older than you are, and I can handle a horse.”

            “That I doubt.

Link looked up into the rafter where Yore sat preening himself. The hawk opened his wings, before closing them again.

“That young man dates back to the first kingdom.

The anouki looked back at Link, then at Epona. He shook his head, saying, “I don’t believe it…” The little horned man turned away, shaking his head. The other anouki looked at him, but the older anouki just waved his hand at them and walked into the inn.

Link closed the stall door. Epona snorted again. Link said, “Be good.”

He walked into the inn. A cheer went up and Link had to duck to avoid being taken out by a yeti’s arm. Daniel welcomed Link over to the bar with him, saying, “You’ve done a great thing today. You and Bruce, that is.” Daniel gestured his iron stein towards Bruce. Bruce nodded, before turning back to his mug.

            “You’re drinking now?” Link asked.

Daniel laughed, before pushing one of the tall mugs towards Link. “If only. But thanks to your gift, the yetis have kindly cracked open a barrel of something much better. Stronger too, but in the way you need up here.”

Link looked into the mug and saw a thick orange broth in the cup. He said, “It’s soup.”

“Pumpkin soup,” Daniel added. “I think you might have actually had something to do with this particular recipe. For that, I have to thank you.”

Another cheer went up as Link took a sip from his mug. He turned around and saw Frostbar walking in. Freya jumped off the yeti’s back and ran across the room to Link. She jumped up on the stool next to him, saying, “Isn’t this place amazing? And big? I haven’t been here since I was little. Frostbar said he was going to take me to see where I used to live, and-”

Daniel asked, “You aren’t the chief’s little daughter, are you?” Freya grinned. Daniel said, “Well, thank him for the goats. My men were freezing up here.”

“They aren’t all for you,” Freya replied. “Some of them are for the anouki. We need thick coats too. We’re not furry like the yetis, but we know how to make thick coats.”

“No kidding, I have one of them,” Daniel said, gesturing to his thick fur coat. “I grew up in Castle Town. My family went to Port City for the winters. This is freezing for me. I’m glad that the last captain at this station left this jacket. Smart man. Then again, I think he was part Gerudo.”

Freya asked, “What is Castle Town like?”

Daniel said, “I don’t think I have time to answer that question. But when we have time, Freya, I will take you to see it. And it would be my greatest pleasure.”
