^I couldn't find a picture of just the fifth battalion *cries*^

Nessa took a deep breath. Today was the day. The first battle was about to begin. (I know that I left out the actual first battle, but I have no idea what happened, and also I didn't feel like it was that important to this story.) Wilbur had called for everyone to meet by the Hto Dog Van before the battle, and that was where Nessa was headed now.

She walked down the path, hands shaking a little bit. As the van came into view, she saw that the other five were already there. She started jogging, sword in one hand, bow in the other, until she reached the group. Nessa saluted to General Soot, who nodded, before taking her place next to Fundy. Apparently, Wilbur had been right about Fundy's salmon genes making him age faster. The hybrid already looked about 10. He was going to fight in this battle, which Nessa thought was a little bit weird, but she went along with it.

Wilbur cleared his throat. "You all know why I've called you here. We are about to go into our first battle fighting for this nation. It will be scary. We'll be injured, possibly fatally. But freedom is worth the price. Now, there are two orders of business. Tommy, please join me." Tommy looked confused, but walked up and stood in front of Wilbur.

Wilbur looked the younger boy in the eyes. "Tommy, I'm too old to lead this army into battle. While I am still the general, I would like you to be my right hand man and lead us in this battle. Can you do that?" Tommy's eyes widened, and he nodded eagerly. Wilbur nodded back.

"Now that that's settled, there's one more announcement. I've prepared a surprise. Could you all step inside the Hto Dog Van?" They all followed his directions and stepped inside. There, along with all the brewing stands for making drugs, they each saw a chest with their name on it. Upon opening hers, Nessa found a new sheath for her sword and a quiver to hold arrows. She looked around and saw that everyone else had received similar gifts.

Nessa ran outside and practically tackled Wilbur with a hug. "Thank you!" she said, smiling. Once everyone had opened their chests, they regrouped outside. Tommy stepped forward. "As the person leading us, I hereby name us the Fifth Battalion! Since, you know, there are five founding fathers of L'Manburg." Everyone nodded.

"Now," he said, "Let's go beat the shit out of some americans!" They all cheered, and everyone started to walk toward the battlefield, a little less uneasy about the battle that lay ahead of them.
