Birds chirping, that's the first thing that Chan heard when he woke up that morning. That was one of the few things in the morning that he actually enjoyed. The birds helped him prepare himself for the day ahead of him. He sat up and scratched his stomach through his shirt before yawning and stretching his arms above his head. Then he reached to his side table and picked up his phone checking to see if there were any notifications. His phone was flooded with notifications, but one stood out in particular.

How did Felix find his Instagram so fast? He didn't remember telling him the name of his account and he didn't think he had chosen a super obvious username. Shaking the thoughts out of his head he clicked the “follow back” button and walked out of his room.
As Chan walked down the hall he realized that the bathroom was free. When that thought fully materielized in his brain he rushed back to his room and gathered his shower things. He ran back to the bathroom and shut the door quickly. I wonder why Victoria's not in here already, he thought to himself. It was at this moment that he saw the clock in their bathroom, 6:45 AM. What? It's that early still! As the realization finally set in he laughed to himself, well, now I won't be late, and I can finish my homework from last night! Chan turned the shower on, and as he waited for the water to reach a good temperature he scrolled through Felix's Instagram.

He liked the five most recent posts before turning his phone off and getting into the shower. As the warm water ran over his body he began to hum softly to himself. He was halfway through the song before he realized that it was the song that Felix had danced to the night before. He would have to ask Felix who it was by, it was a really good song and he loved the sound. Maybe I could write one like that, he thought to himself.
Once he finished showering he brushed his teeth and did his hair.
“I normally just put in some gel and voluminizing hair spray, but I have time, maybe I should try something different.” he said as he pulled out his sisters curling iron and heat protection spray. After spraying his hair first he curled his hair in loose fluffy ringlets. After fluffing them a little more he sprayed some hairspray and adjusted the curls a little bit more. Then he walked out of the bathroom and back to his own room to pick out an outfit for school and after. Victoria pushed past him a little rudely when he walked past her door, but he didn't feel like saying anything. The outfit he picked out for school was the typical soft boy look, overalls, a light pink hoodie, white vans and a daisy earring in his right ear.
(Okay, but Chan would look really cute in this outfit... just saying)
On the other hand the outfit that he got for after school was black ripped skinny jeans, a black hoodie, black vans, a black baseball cap, and a silver ring he had gotten from his mother. He packed the clothes into his school bag and went down the stairs to the kitchen.
For the first time in forever, Chan was finally eating a proper breakfast instead of just a granola bar on the way out the door. He put two pieces of bread in the toaster and ate a banana while he waited for the bread to toast. When the toast was finished he spread some butter on. Not bothering to sit down he stuffed it in his mouth and swallowed it. When he had finished his breakfast he pulled a water bottle out of the fridge and gulped down half of it before screwing the lid back on and going back up to his room. At that point it was around eight'o'clock and he had forty-five minutes until he was going to head out.
“Oh wait, I'm walking with Felix. I'll finish getting ready at, like, eight thirty or something like that.” Chan said before setting an alarm on his phone for the set time and started reading the English book he was assigned, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It was a good book, he had watched the movie before and just from what he had already read the book was already a hundred times better.
(The book is always better than the movie. Prove me wrong, I dare you!)
He was able to get a good amount read before his alarm went off and he headed to the bathroom to brush his teeth again. When he had fresher breath again he walked down the stairs and to the door to put his shoes on and walk out.
“Hey! What are you doing? My friends will be here at eight fifty! You can't be out there yet!” Victoria screeched when she saw him going out the door. Chan rolled his eyes.
“Chill, I'm meeting somebody at eight forty-five, you'll have time.” Victoria scoffed.
“You? Who would want to walk with you? Did you find some more loser friends?” She mockingly fake pouted trying to elicit a response from her brother. But he just ignored her and walked out the door. Victoria was shocked to say the least, he would normally at least tell her to shut up. Her curiousity got the best of her so she went to the window to see who was walking with him.
She waited for a while just watching her brother scroll through his phone, every once in a while looking down the road to his right. Then she saw him. He had straight black hair that was parted down the middle framing his face, and he was wearing black skinny jeans, a black graphic tee that said “Why Not?” on it, a white button down over top, and black checkered vans. As she watched this boy ran over to their house and greeted Chan with a big smile. To her surprise Chan actually twitched the corner of his mouth and nodded in response. They talked for a bit before the mystery boy gestured for Chan to walk and they walked away. This boy is talking and laughing with Chan, and Chan is actually responding! Victoria thought to herself. Then a car pulled up and honked, she rushed to put her shoes on and head out the door. On the way to school the only thing she could think about was this boy and how he and Chan could have possibly met.
Chan was enjoying himself, like, really enjoying himself. Felix just had this way of making him come out of his shell a little bit. When the school was in view he stopped and grabbed Felix's arm.
“What?” Felix asked “Did you see your sister?” He looked frantically over his shoulder trying to catch a glimpse of Chan's sister, before realizing that he had no idea what she looked like.
“No, I'm just thinking it might be better for both of our reputations if we walked in a couple minutes apart.” Chan explained adjusting his backpack and putting his headphones around his neck.
“Oh, You're probably right. I think you normally get here first, so I'll wait out here for a bit.” Felix replied as he stepped to the side of the sidewalk and pulled out his phone. “See you at the cafe after school.” He smiled as Chan walked towards the gate. Chan stopped a couple steps later before turning around and waving. Felix smiled and waved back a bit more enthusiastically. Satisfied, Chan turned around and walked into the torture building in front of him
