Chapter 36: Talk of the Town

Y/N POV:

The school was filled with whispers and talk about the tournament and the rumors of he who must not be named. Frankly everyone was terrified, while others didn't believe Harry and thought he was lying, the majority was just afraid of the unknown and what was to come.

For me though all I could think about was the night before with Cedric, don't get me wrong I too was scared but there was nothing we could do at the moment but wait, so I was focused on my own troubles.

It was breakfast time and me and Cedric had already gotten dressed and headed down to the great hall, it was silent at first between us but soon enough we were all over each other with kisses and holding hands and what not. It was wonderful feeling so much closer to him now, and finally getting rid of the consistent sexual tension.

We were seated at the Hufflepuff table eating breakfast, Cedric had gotten to talking with his friends about all kinds of things, and I just enjoyed the morning eating my food. While eating and admiring my surroundings I caught a glance of Draco...

Draco...

I had completely forgotten about him with everything that had been going on the past few weeks. Draco was talking to someone, a girl, but it wasn't Ginny, it was someone else, I had never seen this girl before but she was quite beautiful. She had long black hair and piercing silver eyes.

I was curious and leaned over to Cedric "Hey Ced, do you know that girl?" I said gesturing to her and Draco, Cedric chuckled a bit "Hmm jealous are we?" he teased and I rolled my eyes, he laughed again "Kidding, but that's Briella, she's a 4th year and not quite popular, but she's pretty nice as far as I know." Cedric said "Thanks" I responded.

"Course love," Cedric said, kissing my forehead and returning to talking among-st his friends. I continued to watch Briella and Draco talk and reality set in about what had happened a few weeks ago about what Draco said to me in the Hospital Wing that night.

I began to feel jealous and a little emotional, I must have been staring for too long because the next thing I know Draco's eyes are locked with mine, the emotions had gotten the better of me and I felt warm tears building up, of course he noticed the tears building up in my eyes and I see he looks worried for me now, I felt embarrassed and I quickly looked back down at my food avoiding the awkwardness.

I really didn't feel like drawing any attention to myself by crying and thank god Cedric hadn't noticed, but I sucked up my tears for a moment to let Cedric know I had to use the bathroom "Hey Ced i'm gonna go use the bathroom real quick" I said getting up and not acknowledging him.

I felt him grab my arm quickly as I tried walking away "Hey wait, Is there something wrong?" He asks concernedly "No, I'm fine!" I respond lying without looking his way, and I slip out of his grip. I quickly walked out of the great hall and into the nearest bathroom, making my way into a stall.

The second the door closes I let out a quiet sob and the tears came back stronger, Draco's gone, the person i've known since first year, the person who's been there for me through thick and thin, my first love, and my bestest friend just gone all because I can't love him the way he loves me. I feel a lump in my throat as I try to hold back more tears then I wish to let out.

When just then I hear the door to the bathroom open and close, I quickly hold my breath and try to be quiet, footsteps slowly walk towards the stalls and soon two black shoes appear right under the stall I was in "Y/n?" It was Draco.

A pit in my stomach formed, oh god the last thing I wanted was to have him see me like this, "Y/n please open the door" Draco insisted. I obviously didn't want to so I responded with "You're not supposed to be in here, this is the girls' lavatory" I said with a shaky voice, anyone could tell that I had been crying after hearing that.

Draco let out a sigh and muttered a spell "Alohomora" . The door swung open and there he stood looking over my wet and beaten red face, I didn't know what to say so I just let out another sob.

Draco didn't say anything at all. He just looked at me for a moment and then without hesitation he kneeled down on the floor and hugged me. He then whispered to me "I know." This only made me cry more, I melted into his arms and continued to cry.

He wrapped his arms around me tighter and with one hand he gently combed through my hair comfortingly, I continued to let out short sobs here and there, holding back the hysterical fit that I actually wanted to let out.

"Shhh, I know love" Draco said, he now swayed us back and forth, why was he doing this? I thought he couldn't be with me? His embrace slowly calmed me down and I felt my tears begin to slow and the lump in my throat fade.

In that moment of silence Draco was the first to speak "I know what's wrong" he paused waiting for my response "Y-you do?" I answered, my voice still a little raspy from crying moments ago. "Yes I do, and I just want to say that I've moved on from those feelings for you, and I want to be friends again."

I had never wanted to hear something as good as that, it was like a breath of fresh air and a weight lifted from my shoulders. I looked up at him, you could see the pure joy in my eyes "Really?" I asked, trying to calm the excitement in my voice "Yes" he answered.

"May I ask how?" I asked him, "I've met someone new, her name is Briella!" he said, you could tell by the way he said her name that he had feelings for her. "That's so good Draco! I'm proud of you!" I responded.

He looked so happy to hear my support towards him and Briella. We got to talking for a few moments and just catching up on everything that had happened during our separation, we had moved out of the bathroom stall where we'd be more comfortable and we were deep into conversation when all of a sudden...

"Errrrrrrrr"

The door to the lavatory had creaked open, we both quickly looked over to see who it was "Y/n? Y/n are you in here?" It was Cedric. We both watched him poke his head in to look if I was in there when his head stopped dead on Draco.

Immediately I realized how this must have looked to Cedric after what Draco had done to me in the past and my first thought was "Oh fuck"

"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING MALFOY YOU ABSOLUTE PIECE OF SH-"

Cedric started charging for Draco and he looked terrified, Draco was a stuttering mess trying to say things like "W-were just t-talking!" "I-i know w-what this looks l-like!!" But Cedric paid no attention to it and kept charging full speed at him.

I had to think quickly before Draco was about to get the shit beaten out of him, I quickly rose to my feet and ran in front of Draco just as Cedric was about to throw a punch. Cedric was caught off guard when he saw that I had caught his fist in my hand, "Y/n what are you doing?" Cedric said looking confused and shocked by my strength to hold him back.

"Love it's not as it looks, ......" I went on to tell Cedric everything he had missed, from the night where Draco confessed his love to me all the way up to now and how he wants to be friends and that he had found someone new, Cedric looked beyond relieved at the good news.

Cedric took a deep breath once I had finished speaking. "Well mate, it's nice to not want to kill you now" Cedric said with a chuckle, both me and Draco laughed along with him, "Yeah it sure is" Draco said agreeing.

We all spoke for another good 2 hours about all kinds of things, and when we were done we headed back to our common rooms for the night. I went to bed with Cedric just enjoying his embrace and how my friendship with Draco was back....

My deepest apologies, but you all have a life so i'd like to assume that you understand my issue and will respect it. My heart goes out to you readers who have stuck it out with me and who are so kind I truly love you guys, I think i'm going to be wrapping up this story within the next few chapters and i'll try my best to keep you all updated on it, but it's truly been an awesome journey and i'll be sure to write other stories besides this one.
