37 - Yellow

sometimes worry gets the best of us
sometimes even the most positive have fears
sometimes the care outweighs the confusion
sometimes it's necessary to wipe away some tears

but yellows don't have space to cry
they must always laugh, or joke, or smile
yellows are not allowed to let their light die
or forget about the needs of others for a while

Hoseok sits in his office, the door closed as it always is, the screen drifting through some annoying multicoloured screensaver that he really must change. His eyes are slowly beginning to slide shut, and his head feels a little heavy, when he's jolted out of his nap by a gentle knock on the door. He jumps, trying not to let out a screech of panic, and then he rolls back his shoulders, trying to regain his composure before he calls out.

"Yes?" His voice squeaks a little, and he winces.
"Hey, Mr Jung?" It's Chaeyeong, her familiar voice making Hoseok relax a little once more.
"Chae, hi," he returns. Then he pauses. "I thought I said you could call me Hoseok?" A faint chuckle is just audible through the door as the young woman realises her mistake.
"Oh, of course, sorry. May I come in?"

Hoseok stands up, his chair scraping a little on the wooden floor, and the door swings open a moment later. Chaeyeong, her long orange hair held in a neat plait today that swings behind her head as she moves, stands on the other side, a slightly nervous smile on her face. Her hand moves away from the door handle, the other hand hand occupied by a large folder, which rests in the crook of her arm.

Hoseok smiles in greeting. "How can I help you?" She pauses, a little lost in thought, and then she nods a little, holding out the folder.
"I've done some sorting of Mr Min's latest poems," she reports. "It should be in the order he requested, and I've had Mr Jeon's paintings scanned and printed around the words. When you get a chance, can you call them into a meeting to check it over? I need to make sure we have the right kind of paper, too. It's probably the same as their other books, but there's no harm in checking, after all."

He nods in understanding, taking the folder from her and placing it on his desk, to check later. "Thank you, Chae. You've saved me a lot of effort there, I appreciate it." She just beams, and then stands there awkwardly for a moment. "Oh right, I'm supposed to give you new instructions." There's a moment of silence, as he thinks it through. "Oh, I had a few reports come in from the factory. Would you sort through them for me and find out what they're lacking in, and what they're all about, please?"

Chaeyeong nods in understanding, stepping back to leave. Just before she can, however, the yellow holds out a hand. "Oh, I almost forgot. Can you grab Lisa for me, if you see her, please? I need to talk to her. I think we agreed to check on Joon's shop today for him, whilst he's dealing with other things. If she's free, we might as well do that now, so we don't forget."

"I'll pass the message on," Chaeyeong promises, heading out. At the door, she pauses. "Do you want this closed?" Hoseok tilts his head, considering, and then shakes it.
"No, thank you. I think I need a bit of ventilation in my little hamster cage for a little while, helps me avoid going stir crazy."

His employee laughs a little at that, and leaves properly. Hoseok sits back down, looks at the folder, and considers opening it, before he remembers that he really doesn't have the energy right now. Sure, Chaeyeong put in a lot of effort, and he appreciates that, but his brain is preoccupied right now, and he doesn't think he'd take much of it in anyway.

That's his excuse, anyway.

A few minutes later, as Hoseok is beginning to relax again, Lisa appears. By this point, his eyes have properly drifted closed, so, with a mischievous smile on her face, she knocks on the open door and watches as he jumps about two feet in the air, before he realises what's going on and sends her a playful glare. "Aqua! You can't just-"

"You wanted to visit the shop, right Sunshine?" Lisa returns, pretending nothing ever happened, and he rolls his eyes, not really angry, more just amused. If he was really asleep, she wouldn't have done that, she'd have let him rest, and he knows that. She's a bit of a prankster, but she would never do anything that could possibly hurt him. She wouldn't have been his best friend this long if that was the case.
