green people are the strongest of us all
famed for how much they give, how much they care
naturally talented and naturally beautiful
like ancient forests or flower meadowsbut behind the shimmering emerald, like a dark heat
they say green people are the most jealous
taking from the sun like greedy children in a candy store
absorbing the energy as if they're able to perform photosynthesisthey feed on attention and care
as they give so much that it must be replaced
but they never get discovered, so they're lucky
mossy velvet coating common sense
painting them with an air of innocenceJungkook walks into his house, closing the door behind him and nearly collapsing into the chair, his smile disappearing and being replaced by an exhausted expression. "God, that was effort," he mumbles to himself, rubbing a hand over his pale face and wincing at the amount of concealer which comes off onto his fingers.
He's an artist that can't work during the day, as his best artwork is drawn at night when he's tired and nobody can disturb him. So he's constantly exhausted, the double life he leads of an energetic appearance and a tired mental state draining him of the vast majority of his life force.
But he's used to it now. So it doesn't affect him as much as it used to.
Jungkook lives alone in a small cottage in the outskirts of the city. He's never spoken to his neighbours, and he prefers to avoid talking to people as much as possible. He has friends, but he's well aware of his own nature, so there aren't many of him.
For he has a weakness when it comes to friendship.
His hair, which is a deep green (like the shade of an oak leaf when the sun is shining through it), shows his strong loyalty. He's easily betrayed because he trusts and cares too much. And he gets incredibly jealous, because of how much he cares about his friends. This means that he can be exploited, and he knows that.
Desperate to avoid this, he's decided that he's going to avoid the vast majority of humanity. Because then nobody can get close enough to hurt him.
He's not totally alone, of course. He has Hoseok and Yoongi, and they are good people. He's known them for too long to view them as anything else, even though he's well aware that this is yet another weakness. But he needs some friends, or he'll disappear into his own mind and never come back out.
In other words, he's constantly conflicted. And that is partially why drawing and painting is such an important part of his life, as it allows him to let go of that negativity and channel it through his work.
"Hey, Miri," he says tiredly, smiling fondly as the tiny but adorably fluffy white dog bounds up to him, leaping into his lap and rubbing her head against his hand. He found her in a nearby petrol station three years ago, abandoned and starving under one of the dispensers. He couldn't just leave her, so he brought her home, nursed her back to health under the advice of a vet, and then learned that she had no owners.
Of course, he immediately chose to keep her. By this point, he was already attached to her, and they seemed to get on well. It made sense for her to officially be his dog. She was happy enough, with regular walks and feeds, and he'd managed to train her to pee outside and sit on command. All the classic stuff.
He was just grateful not to be completely alone.
Miri lets out a bark, distracting him from his thoughts in her attempt to get his attention, and he chuckles at her, seeing her as adorable. As always. "Are you hungry, Miri?" he asks her gently, the tone of his voice causing the excitable dog to calm down.
He smiles a little, setting her down without much effort. "I'll get you something to eat," he promises her, his eyes crinkling with a wider smile as she lets out another eager bark.
