Damon's POV

Samantha Avery Perez

17 years old.

Fallen from tall height.

As soon as I got from the University, I received an envelope on my locker. It must be from Caudillo.

I went to the rooftop and manipulated what's in the letter again. The name written on the death card was switched to another name right before my eyes.

I wasn't surprised when I saw a student walking to the door of the rooftop at pagewang-gewang pa kung maglakad. I think she's drunk.

And I think... She's the person who'll die instead of Avery.

I immediately got my black hat from my backpack at ipinatong 'yon sa ulo ko. It helps me to become invisible, and so I did.

I just watched the girl fall from the rooftop due to her being drunk at mukhang hilo pa. Iniwas ko na lang ang tingin ko nang tuluyan siyang bumagsak at maraming estudyante ang nakakita doon. I could see how traumatized and scared they were. They didn't expect that, at mas lalong walang ni isa ang nakatulong sa babaeng bumagsak.

I hypnotized all of them and manipulated the time frame. As soon as I did that, naglaho na ang mga estudyanteng naka-kita sa pagkabagsak ng isang estudyante. I don't want this to become an issue. 'Cause I might even be convicted as a suspect.

Tinanggal ko ang sumbrero kong itim at tumitig sa bangkay na nasa baba. I needed to get rid of it before someone else sees.

I didn't feel any guilt just like the last time that I manipulated Avery's death card. I wasn't that much of a bad person in my past life, but everything I did just to save Avery, proves that I deserved to be a Grim Reaper. I deserved...  I deserved this painful punishment.

 A soul, for a soul. 'Yan ang sabi nila. And I believe that to be true.

Dahil ginawa ko ang lahat para isalba ang mahal ko, I even sacrificed other people. And this time... I'm sacrificing myself. Am I becoming a villain for loving someone?

Or what I did to manipulate death cards was just all meant to happen?

"Take your shot on Zelena. Huwag mo nang hayaang mapunta pa siya sa iba." Sabi ko pagkatapos naming ibagsak ni Jace si Tristan sa higaan niya at mahimbing na siyang natutulog ngayon. Hindi ko na napigilang sabihin because I wanted to ensure everything before I leave. I don't want to leave some unfinished business. Gusto ko masaya sila lahat.

Kahit pa wala na ako.
