4 Hours Left...

Eleanor POV:

There's something about summer nights, or holiday nights, something just makes it seem way more enjoyable than when you're at home and it's hot at night.

My sliders clacked against the heals of my feet as I walked along, the sound your flip flops made when you're heading to the pool on holiday. I got an awful lot of nostalgia during this trip, that sound reminded me of my older brother, he'd always walk in front of us pretending he was on his own. God he would've loved the people I've met now.

I took a seat onto a sun bed by the pool, Alex sat down by my side and stared up at the stars, his neck strained showing a few veins pushing out of his skin, his Adam's apple clearly visible as he glared up at the sky.

"What's the time?" He asked me suddenly, I hummed and grabbed my phone from my hoodie pocket.

"2:30am" I mumbled, Four hours until I needed to head to the airport.

"Can you play a song from your phone?" Alex requested, I glanced over to him and nodded.

"What kinda song?" I asked as I flicked my phone on and scrolled onto Spotify.

"Just a calming one or summat.." Alex hummed and rested his head back against the sun bed backrest.

I scrolled through my playlist thankful I'd bought premium because the only relaxing song that caught my eye was Beach Houses 'Space Song' it sort of fitted the vibe as we were just lying under the stars.

"This song makes me feel as if I'm walkin' on the moon.." Alex mumbled, I almost didn't hear him but his voice was like an alarm as if I could hear him over the loudest of noises no matter how quiet he spoke.

"It is called Space Song." I giggled quietly, Alex's head shuffled over so his temple rested on the backrest and his gaze was fixated on my side profile.

"It's going to be weird without you.." Alex whispered, I turned my head so I could face him, half of his face glowed silver under the reflect of the moon, the other half shadowed, My mind took a screenshot of this moment, I painted and drew a lot when I was at home and I knew he was definitely someone I wanted to paint.

"I'll see you soon, I just want everything to be perfectly fine until I do again.." Alex nodded after I spoke.

"If anything happens that upsets you and you need someone there..." Alex's hand moved off the arm rest and reached out to me, I furrowed my brows a little before lifting my right hand out to his and linking them together like two magnets.

"I want you to call me straight away." Alex squeezed my hand gently, our eyes never parting.

"I will, you know I will." I sent him a soft smile and my eyes fluttered down to our linked hands.

"It's odd really.." Alex hummed, causing me to glance back up to him, his gaze down on the pavement beneath us.

"I've never had a friend like you..." my lips upturned at his words, as a warm pink flooded up my jaw into my cheeks.

"I've never craved attention until I tasted yours."

"You are so poetic." I grinned, Alex chuckled and shook his head at me, our hands unlinking as we both laid back and re-placed our hands back onto our armrests.

"I am a songwriter." Alex chuckled.

"Somewhere in these eyes
I'm on your side

You wide-eyed girls
You get it right"
