You never realise how lonely you are until you enter your apartment that you don't actually like. With no one running up to you and engulfing you into their arms.

"I fucking hate it here." I muttered under my breath as I threw my bags and suitcase onto the ground and slipped my shoes off.

It looked the same, boring, my apartment was just boring. I didn't have the energy to decorate it though, Al and I always talked about us both decorating it one day, so I didn't want to do it on my own.

I'd attempted to ring Alex as I was heading up the stairs to my apartment but I got sent to voicemail instead, so I left him a message letting him know I got home okay.

I decided to uplift the mood a little bit and connected my phone to the speaker in the living room. Putting on some 80s songs so that I'd unpack quicker and get some things done.

I was one of those that would move quicker whenever a fast song was playing, I threw all my dirty clothes into the washer, putting that on as I folded up the rest and placed them into my drawers or hung them up.

Once I'd finished unpacking I plugged the hoover in and quickly went round the apartment with it, I was comforted whenever I cleaned or did productive things.

I'd messaged Lynn, my manager, saying I was home, she asked if I could work this afternoon and start at 3pm, it was only 11am so I messaged back saying of course I would.

If I kept my mind distracted and myself busy, time would go quicker and soon enough I'd be in Alex's arms again.

Well, I was bloody right about time going quicker.

Christmas came and went within the blink of an eye, I'd flown over to Sheffield and surprised Alex a day early. He thought I was to get there on Christmas Eve but I'd booked an earlier flight and got there the day before.

I'd done majority of my Christmas shopping in Paris, having bought Penny and David a few French bottles of liquor and wine, also bought them a cheeseboard as Alex told me they liked those.
