Acacia POV

"Chris, why didn't you tell me about your friend earlier?" she almost hissed, her eyes fixated on Ryan.

"That's because I could barely get a word in at the time." he gulped.

"Well I was just giving you a friendly warning." she smiled innocently.

"Chris is taking your friend out tonight." Ryan told Lexi out of nowhere. Her eyes widened and she stared at me. I turned to glare at Chris who was already glaring at Ryan, who was still gazing at Lexi.

"How did he know, Chris?" I questioned, still scowling at him. Looks like news travels fast.

"I have no idea. Like I said, he's a nutcase."

"I just know it." Ryan said.

"Well how do you just know?" I questioned further.

"I guess I just know everything."

I rolled my eyes at him and turned back to Lexi.

"So it is true!" she gasped. I just waited for the dreaded question to slip off of her tongue. "So are you guys, like, a couple now or something?" I hung my head slightly. Of course she'd ask that question. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Chris attempting to discreetly look at me. His face was slightly flushed red and his eyes were glinting.

"Alexis, not everything on this Earth requires a label." I concluded that my answer was safe enough. But the question remained in my brain; where exactly did we stand?

CHRIS POV

"Alexis, not everything on this Earth requires a label." Acacia replied carefully. Too carefully. What exactly was that supposed to mean? I wondered if it just meant that she didn't know the answer to Alexis's question. But I couldn't be mad- I didn't know the answer myself. And a distinct feeling kept on telling me that Lexi asked that question on purpose.

ACACIA POV

"Well, I guess your right then." she replied, sending a discreet smirk in my direction. I just glared at her. Only God knows how Chris felt about what I just said.

"Lexi, can you come and help me water the plants quickly?" I heard Ryan snort, but I ignored it, sending Lexi a pointed look.

"Sure."

She walked in front of me to the kitchen, and I pushed her into the door, causing it to open and for her to stumble inside the kitchen.

"What are you playing at?" I hissed, not wanting Chris and Ryan to hear anything.

"I didn't do anything wrong!" She raised her hands in defence. "If I didn't ask that question, you wouldn't even think to answer it for yourselves."

Stupid girl, I thought to myself. She was right, and I couldn't accept it, as always.

"Well please stop with the embarrassment! I don't want anything even weirder to happen, okay?"

She saluted me. "Yes ma'am!" But I knew she was lying. She had her signature evil grin on her face, and her eyes looked excited: she was planning something.

We walked out of the kitchen and I went to sit beside Chris. His eyes were fixated on my eyes and surprisingly, he didn't look at any part of my body apart from that.

"Chris, stop staring like a zombie... Its impolite." I scolded, sitting back down next to Chris.

Chris snapped out of any reverie that he was in and shook his head at me.

"I'm the impolite one? You're the frankest person I've ever met."

I grinned at him. "That's a compliment to me, Chris."

"Of course it would be." He grunted under his breath.

"So, what's the dress code for tonight?"

A smirk returned to his face. "I'm not going to tell you."

"What? Why?"

"Figure it out for yourself." he grinned mischievously at me.

"You do know that I don't have to go out with you tonight if I don't want to, right?"

Chris's face immediately softened and he regarded me. "I'm sure that whatever you wear, you're going to look amazing anyway."

I rolled my eyes and pushed him to the side. "Whatever."

"You're really strong," he winced, rubbing his arm. "Have you ever considered taking up wrestling?" I grinned at him; I took that as a compliment.

"Why, yes Chris, I think about it every damn day," I smiled innocently at him. I paused for a second. "Um, Chris, could you pick me up a little late tonight? I've got to go and see my dad later."

Chris stared at me, as if he was trying to find out what I was thinking.

"Alright. Is 9 okay?"

"Sure." I smiled at him. That'd give me enough time to speak to my dad about a few 'issues'.
