Acacia's POV

I felt a light nudge on my side.

"Wake up Acacia." A voice spoke softly.

"I don't want to." I mumbled, attempting to turn on my side to get comfortable. The next thing I knew, I was face down on the ground.

"What the...?" I drifted off, not yet fully awake.

"Someone found us and we're going to get back soon." Chris said, helping me off the ground.

I ruffled my hair, sighing. "I was kind of enjoying the countryside."

"Well, we didn't exactly put in our best efforts to rescue ourselves," Chris smirked. "There were probably a dozen things we could have actually done."

"Well at least we're saved now, right?"

"Yeah, come on," Chris signalled me to follow him. "Lets get back to civilisation."

"How did you manage to get lost?" Alexis asked for the seventh time.

"I don't know... It sorta just happened." I shrugged, cutting up pieces of cucumber.

"Well, I'm glad you're back, or else I would have starved to death." She whined, holding her stomach.

"You do understand that I'm not your personal chef and you can cook for yourself, right?" I asked with a sceptical look on my face.

"But where's the fun in that?" She pouted.

"Whatever."

"So," Lexi whispered, leaning over the kitchen counter. "Did anything good happen while you guys were lost?"

I felt a small smile flit across my face when I remembered that I was the only person Chris had told about his situation with his boss.

"Nothing in particular."

"Aw, come on! You guys were away for a long time."

"Well, we just talked," I raised my head and looked down at her. "Like normal human beings."

Lexi stared at me, studying my face for a long while. I stared back at her with a wary look on my face. "What?"

"You guys sure do a lot of talking, and I'm surprised he still doesn't know," She mused. "He's dumber than he looks."

"Lexi!" I scolded, slapping her hand. "That's rude," I returned to chopping vegetables. After a few moments of silence, I slammed the knife down and spun around to look at Lexi.

"But it's kind of true."

What?

This is the shortest chapter in the history of short chapters.

I apologise profusely.

Please forgive me, readers.

Next chapter will hopefully be somewhat juicy?

And I'm waiting for when I should finally get to the climax of the story, but I'm considering whether I should still stretch it out a bit. I want to wait for what somebody has to say before I make any decisions, because I have a feeling some people will want to murder me after you realise what the problem is. :(

Hmm. Oh well, till' next time,

Liz
