To me, it's perfect for Kero. 🤗🤗
_________________________________________Hero was the first to speak.
"What the fuck- I mean- how can I help you-?"
The person held out his hand. He was perfectly tanned and had the same mesmerizing eyes I remembered.
What color were they?
Could it have been Cognac or hazel?
I was shocked at how professional Hero acted.
"Mr. Tiffin, I'm so sorry to intrude like this," the man's eyes then shifted to look at me, "that is if Little Kriss doesn't mind."
I gasped at this endearment. It sounded so familiar.
I did know who this guy was.
"Oh my god!" I exclaimed. "Eli Seth? That can't be you!"
As we broke into fits of laughter and astonishment, Hero eyed us incredulously.
"What the hell is going on here?"
"I'm sorry, honey!" I replied, still laughing. "This is Eli... he's a friend from grade school. I mean, sort of. Whenever I was teased and bullied, he was sure to tell those jerks off!"
He didn't seem to accept this answer.
"You never mentioned him."
My eyes widened at his tone.
"I never thought it was important enough to. After grade school, we'd lost contact."
Eli cleared his throat.
"Very true. We weren't close at all actually."
Hero narrowed his eyes, look all the more possessive. He arms snaked around my waist.
"Well, I'm her husband."
Eli didn't seem phased by this. He cackled joyfully.
"I'm aware. I merely saw you two in the paper and wanted to visit an old friend."
I winced. Crap. We were already in the papers? I should have known that would be the case.
I extended my hand."I couldn't be happier to see you."
Upon Eli's hand touching mine, I felt a shake emanate from Hero's chest. He was not happy. I tore away afraid that a fight might ensue."I'm sorry." I apologized. "But we are busy at work so unless you have business with us-"
Eli laughed nervously.
"Well, that's the thing. I have the credentials to cover it- I'm here to apply for a job."
At this proposal, Hero eyed me intently.
It didn't take long for Eli to leave five minutes later.
Though it hadn't been given out genuinely, Hero printed an application and sent him on his way.
The next few moments were filled with Hero and I screaming inside the office.
"I don't know why you're so upset!" I shouted. "I'm married to you, aren't I?""I never said that!" He spat. "Just because you're mine doesn't mean you'll be able to fight off advances!"
I sucked in a sharp breath.
"How dare you suggest that I would stray!"
He scoffed.
"I'm not saying that at all, Mrs. Tiffin. I trust you completely. It's the guys I don't trust."
I ran my hands through my thick hair.
"You know... sometimes I love when you're possessive over me, but you need to realize the vows I made. I never swore to remain meek and do as you say; I can have friends, men and women."
"Friendship," he went on, hissing through his teeth, "I'm sure was the last thing on his damned mind. You should have seen the way he looked at you. It was like he'd struck gold. He will never work here."
I shook my head in disbelief.
"We can't do that. We'd be messing with his livelihood!"
Before we could continue arguing, our office door bursted open without warning. For some reason the thought of sex came unbidden in my mind. We definitely wouldn't be able to sneak around this building.
Standing in front of us were our three business partners, staring wildly at us through hooded lids.
What now?
"What in the blazes is going on in here?" Brad demanded sharply. "We heard a commotion."
"Trouble in paradise?" The partner- whose name I still didn't know- teased.
I glared.
Hero interrupted, unable to let his grudge go.
"A friend of hers came in demanding a job. I don't have any intention of hiring him. Ignore any further calls from him."
I wanted to argue with this, but yet again, Brad spoke for us.
"I'm afraid we can't do that with all due respect."
Hero's face slowly turned purple. His anger was rising dangerously and would soon explode through the entire room.
"Excuse me?"
"We promised your father we'd keep this company on its feet." Al said. "Anyone that applies has a fair right to an interview. We will answer any and all calls."
"Not if I have anything say about it." Hero snapped.
Brad laughed.
"I thought you'd say that. Try all you like, but we recieved an email from Evelyn. She scheduled your television debut two days from now. I'm sure you'll be much too occupied to do much of anything."
With one last look at us all, Hero stormed out of the room yelling curses behind him.
My business partners eyed me with interest. I squirmed, feeling like I was being placed under a microscope.
The unnamed partner was the next to speak.
"What kind of friend would that be? Not mixing business with pleasure I hope."
I furrowed my brows, intending to hurt their feelings.
"Not that it's any of your concern, but I'm getting plenty of pleasure at home. If any of you harrass me again, I'll make sure the board sees to it that you're fired. Don't think I have that sort of power? Try me."
At once they all fell silent.
Uh oh.
Another surprise character??
More surprises to come.
