HERO'S POV
I bellowed as I was dragged away from the son of a bitch. Fucking Chad, looking to ruin everything in my damn life. First it was my innocence as a child, then he lies about my character...
Then he tries to get with my Kristina. Twice.
Why the hell was I being held back? God damn, this piece of shit came onto a married woman.
"Niall," I warned through clenched teeth, "If you know what's good for you, you'll let me go."
"Not a chance."
I fixed him with a steely glare.
"I understand that you were busy fucking Josephine or whatever, but this bitch kissed my wife! He deserves worse than what I did!"
Niall wheeled me around to face him, a murderous expression on his face.
"Don't you talk about my girl like that. She isn't my latest whore. Besides, you're in my home. I want to keep the peace."
Much to my displeasure, Kristina nodded in agreement.
"Thank you. At least someone has some common sense."
What the fuck? Why was I the bad guy here?
As if she read my mind, she went on.
"You're acting like a lunatic, Hero. My God... Your daughter is asleep in the room with Jo. I don't even know why you're so upset by the kiss anyway."
I stared at her in disbelief over her asinine words. She didn't know why I was upset. Fuck. Just seeing the motherfuckers eyes on her breasts was enough to make me murder.
Okay, yes, like some idiot I stalked my wife here. I had my reasons. What I'd done at the park hadn't been smart. I had a lot going through my mind.
Kristina made me feel under appreciated as of late and with Diedre hitting me up...
Okay. I really was a wastrel of a man. It was true that I had gone walking on my own to escape reality and I had come across...
Had it been Amanda? Or Stacey?
I recognized the flirtatious nature of her. For a moment I wanted to let go and forget everything. She was pretty enough and reminded me of the chicks I'd nailed so frequently.
It made me think how simple my life would be if I had remained a single man and let Kristina go.
Despite all my reveries, however, I hadn't given into the bait. No matter how many times the girl tried to palm me through my pants or pressed herself against me, I merely nodded off.
It made it all the worse when she followed and made it seem like I had accepted her number.
I wasn't about to throw away the most important thing in my life for some whore.
Kristina was all that mattered.
Eleanor too... Fatherhood just wasn't what I expected it to be.
My plan had been to arrive and whisk my woman away but seeing Chad here had changed all that.
And she hadn't pulled away.
"You're my wife." I growled.
Kristina allowed a stray tear to fall.
"Sure didn't seem like it this afternoon. Not with that bimbo hanging all over you."
Damn this woman. I loved her, but sometimes the fire in her personality outshined everything.
"She didn't mean anything, baby."
She scoffed.
"Isn't that the excuse of the century. I saw the way you interacted with her. She was practically a cat in heat, with her boobs spilling out her top. Admit it. You liked it."
"Kristina, I..."
Shit. I couldn't tell her what I'd been thinking. She might decide to cut off my ball sack.
"It was like seeing the frat boy I met long ago. You like it too much to give it up. She's like the new shiny toy. Tell me, did she touch you?"
When I let my mouth fall open, she dug the knife deeper.
"Did you let her?"
Not wanting to hear any of this meaningless bullshit, I groaned.
"Don't act like you're innocent! You didn't shove Chad away when he swallowed your tongue!"
Kristina blushed, knowing I'd made a fair point.
"I didn't exactly have a chance to do much before you tackled him!"
Before we could continue with our rant Chad moaned from where he sagged on the ground. I made a move for him, but Kristina slid in my path.
Fuck. Did she have feelings for him? What the hell was her issue?
"I won't let your hurt anyone else. You've done enough of that."
I yanked at the strands of my hair wanting to rip them out. She was so fucking infuriating. Could she blame me for wanting to get away?
I didn't even do anything with anyone and I hadn't got the chance to defend myself.
Niall set a hand on my back as if to soothe me but I didn't want his pity. I didn't want anything. I just wanted...
Out of nowhere, Josephine materialized. When she caught sight of Chad, she gasped.
Oh of course she'd still defend him after everything.
I hated her so much.
"He needs a hospital," Kristina spat out, "Quickly. I think Hero may have ruptured something."
As everyone began circling around me, I had a sinking feeling deep in my gut that I was losing my wife.
Will Hero ever learn?
Do you all think he took her number?
