                                                                                 HERO'S POV

"Shit, they're on their way out!"

Leon grabbed ahold of a stuffed duffel bag, barking several orders at Trudy. I was surprised that for once she wasn't being an insufferable pain.

"What the hell are you talking about?" I demanded through a croaky voice.

We'd been sitting on our asses for months, without a sign of action, but now everything was chaotic.

Leon swiveled around to face me, fire burning in his eyes. I'd never seen him this way: so unraveled and insane.

"Our alarm on the swat compound tripped. I'm afraid I haven't been watching their activity as closely as I should have been. But as we speak, they have a large team- larger than I thought they needed- headed over to Sacramento."

I cursed, wanting to punch the crap out of this guy. How could he have slipped up so royally? We had no time to prepare. We were fucked!

"We'll never make it there in time," I stated.

Leon glowered.

"We'll be cutting it close, but will have time if we leave on a plane. Now."

I didn't bother arguing as he made his way out the front door in what felt like weeks. It had felt like a century since I last saw Kristina and I was coming for her.

                                                                     DIEDRE'S POV

I lowered myself to the ground, doing my best to shield myself. I had never witnessed a fit of his to this multitude.

He roared like an uncontrollable beast as he threw glass objects at the walls.

He severely miscalculated everything. Now, he was in trouble. He knew it. I don't know how he did, but he was smart.

Did I dare speak? Would that set him off?

Oh, he had screwed this operation.

The new plan had been simple: have his fun with Kylie and be done with her. Unfortunately, he kept her longer than necessary. I could remember the night of our discussion...

I pressed myself against the far wall.

"You haven't come back with any more lessons. I think you're growing restless."

The man I had grown to fear with every cell in my body advanced, though he didn't agree with me.

"That is not what I am here for, little lamb. I have a new plan in store."

I took a shuddering breath.

"Please, tell me more."

Perhaps if I could stall him with conversation, I could hold off any future punishments.

"I will not dispose of this fraternity girl. It's been months. Think about it, Diedre. The cops have no means of sticking a warrant on me. I haven't slipped up in years. If they were to arrest, they'd be here already."

Something wasn't right here. Though my brain told me to keep my trap shut, I could help but feel a nagging in the back of my mind. He was becoming too arrogant. If he went down, I went down.

"What do you plan to do with her then?" I asked, not wanting to give him any impression I didn't trust his judgment.

He grinned that creepy smile that still gave me nightmares.

"It's quite simple. I will keep her for my pleasure... and try to get answers out of her. Every day that she's here, she breaks down further."

"Are you sure that is wise?" I challenged. "Perhaps we-"

I stopped short at the menacing look in his eyes.

"Are you questioning me, Diedre?"

"N-no." I stuttered. "Of course not. I just worry about your safety. That's all."

But most of all mine.

"Good."

I knew then that his plan was a monumental mistake and even now it was apparent.

He probably was realizing this now, but I didn't dare voice the obvious. At this point, he'd murder anyone.

"HE MADE A FOOL OF US ALL!" He screamed.

I raised my head just the barest of an inch.

"Who?" I squeaked miserably.

His eyes then zeroed in on me, pinning me with a steely expression.

"You were probably were in on it weren't you?"

As he raised a hand, I flinched.

"No, please! I have no idea who you're talking about!"

Had he actually gone crazy? Never in my life had I betrayed him. I wouldn't start now.

He inched his face close enough to press against my nose, terrifying me.

"Your saint of a grandson that magically disappeared months ago? Yes, he's been right under our noses."

Wait. What? Hero? This didn't make any sense.

"But he left states..."

Without so much as a response, he lifted some sort of security device, that was still blinking red on the screen. He clenched it in his grasp, cracking the glass.

Holy fuck, he was mad.

"This isn't the only one," He hissed through his teeth, "The entire warehouse is bugged. I should have known that lone van down the street was sketchy, but being me I thought... Fuck! I heard the alarm set off a moment ago. I don't know how long we have. Could be an hour... five minutes-"

BOOM!

CRASH!

In an explosion of color, everything went fuzzy.
