The next few days were pleasant. 

Though Hero demanded to check my pockets for secret notes and refused to leave me and Eleanor alone at any time of the day, it was perfect. 

The business, of course, thrived and there was no sight of Diedre anywhere. It seemed that my husband had been honest and didn't pay any mind to her taunts. 

What would have made it better was... 

"Baby." 

I opened my eyes to find him staring down at me. Observing my surroundings, it was clear that I had fallen asleep on the couch with Eleanor in my arms. 

"Yes?" 

"It's nearly eight at night." 

I bit my lip trying to understand what the hidden riddle out of this was. 

"Um... Yeah?" 

Hero snorted waking our daughter up as he rubbed her scalp. Over the short time she'd been on this earth she'd learned to manage her emotions. 

No more whining when disturbed. 

"Get Eleanor in warm clothes. I have a surprise for you both." 

Well. That was out of nowhere. 

With a parting kiss, I made my way down the hall to do as instructed. We had purchased an adorable pair of pink mittens and parka awhile back so I paired those with a thick snow suit. 

She stared at me through puffy cheeks as if to ask: is this really necessary mommy? 

I shook my head at the mere thought. 

"Yes, little one. It is." 

It wasn't long before Hero joined us, leaning against the door frame. I was instantly hit with a barrage of memories to when he had tried his best to seduce me, looking like sex on a stick. 

He even adorned my favorite black jeans and white shirt that showcased his muscles and tattoos. 

Dear me... I wanted to lick my way down from the chords of his arms to the curved V near his waist. 

"Penny for your thoughts?" 

I sighed, holding our daughter close to my chest. 

"Just counting my blessings. I love you so much." 

He surged forward, capturing my lips in a searing kiss. Licking my bottom lip so I had no choice but to grant him access, he pulled away at the last moment. 

Ugh. God damn him. 

"We'll play later. First let me take you into town. I promise the wait will be worth it." 

I nodded as he led us to the car.

Just a few more chapters until we're onto the fourth and final book!!
