HERO'S POV
________________________________________________________________________________
Oh my gosh, you guys. Sorry for the delay but we finally have his POV.
Yayyyyy.
Okay, I'll stop.

I wasn't in the mood to waste time today. I had a strong surge of anger hit me like a train. These idiots weren't making things easier for me and I was itching for more news.
I fingered my phone cherishing that damn photo of Kristina. It had been so long since-
No. Fuck that.
I was sure in my decision. I didn't need to think about her. I didn't need to see her. I was fine where I was.
The broad woman that reminded me more of a man these days eyed me suspiciously.
"Still mourning over that little doe of yours?"
I glowered.
"No. She's not fucking mine. I'm done with her."
She massaged her chin which had seemed to grow stubble.
"If that was so, why are you so hell-bent on protecting her?"
I screwed my eyes shut, feeling the wave of dread course through me.
"I'm not doing this for her... god why are in my shit anyway? This fucker has messed with my family for more than a decade."
She snorted.
"If she means jack shit to you, I still don't see why it's so important to you."
I rubbed my temples, already feeling a mild headache.
"Do you believe that men can get molested or are we too prideful?"
For once, this callous woman seemed affected by my statement. She surveyed my face as if she could unearth more.
"This... this man...?"
She didn't need to finish.
"No, he didn't, but he's the reason my grandmother is so screwed up."
Before she could taunt me more, a stern man exited from a closed door. He was the epitome of cruel, strutting around in black leather and a pair of tinted shades.
He meant business.
Thank fuck.
He carried a stack of glossy papers, throwing them down onto the fold up table.
"Have you found anything?" I growled.
He grunted.
"Not much. I haven't slept. This fucker knows what he's doing. What's his play anyway, blackmailing women into sex?"
"I don't know," I bit out, aware of the woman's eyes on mine, "but it makes me sick."
The man pointed to the paper on the top of the stack.
"See this? He's had several employees leave his firm within two months of securing jobs. All female. Think it's a coincidence?"
I narrowed my eyes.
"Not where he's concerned."
"Exactly what I thought. These weren't females that were prone to silence either. They worked closely with him and saw many disturbing things he'd done. So he got rid of them."
I hissed through my teeth. I had let her go. Kristina. But was it going to be enough? I was states away, while a possible rapist was within the same town.
The man lifted his shades. regarding me coolly.
"Have you bothered contacting her? Your... woman?"
I grinded my teeth together.
"No and I never will. I don't need her anymore. But if I can help her in the process-"
The man laughed.
"I may look like a hard-ass, but I'm real. This is all for her, you know that. You love her. I've seen the pictures on your phone. We'll get the guy. I'll see to it."
I glowered.
"What the hell would you know?"
I expected him to lash out and back hand me, but all he offered was a weak smile.
"I have a wife and three children. It kills them when they think of my line of work but I would go to hell and back for them. I've hurt my wife countless times but I wouldn't trade her for anything. Not even fear."
I turned away as he went back to stroking the papers.
My hand lingered over Kristina's smiling photo, ready to delete it.
