Things turned eventful as the weeks passed. Captain Willard had given his contact to our parents, but it proved to be one of the worst decisions ever.
They spent every second of their evenings badgering him for updates on court hearings. Unfortunately, he couldn't say much on his teams behalf and swore it was now in the police department's hands, but that didn't stop them.
I could tell Willard was getting annoyed.
Following all this chaos, my friends had managed to blackmail Hero into attending Childbirth 101 classes. The fact that they had roped me in as well didn't help matters.
Jo and I had managed to move past what she'd said at the sting. We didn't mention it to Kylie, but I had Rose and Brendan come to my house so we could have an intervention about her words and how Kylie would have felt had she heard them.
She felt regretful and cried her eyes out for awhile. Glad that I had my old friend back, we'd all gone out for ice cream.
Now, all my friends were convinced Hero had work to make up for. Though they did agree I had reason to buy into his charm, they insisted he needed to grovel.
I didn't get to witness the said blackmail, but he'd quickly agreed, mumbling and grumbling about how much of a jackass he'd been.
The classes had been... interesting. I was shocked to see it was being run by an attractively thin thirty year-old that had the hots for my husband. As well as every pregnant female within an inch radius.
I made it a fact to rub up against Hero like a cat in heat and wrap my thick thighs around him when possible. This seemed to excite him, creating a rather large bulge in his pants.
Thank god he covered it pretty well.
Let's just say that all the pent up frustration in the studio led to a hasty romp in his car. It was hot and heavy and lasted up to an hour.
These damn pregnancy hormones.
Amidst all this, we also received a sonogram of our little girl. We couldn't decide on a name just yet, but the black and white picture we'd gotten was sure to be enough.
Hero tried to hide his tears, but he failed, staring at it a bit too long.
My brilliant, beautiful husband was changing for the better.
We were in a safe cocoon of emotions with all this for a few days until we got an important phone call from none other than Captain Willard and a summons, outlining the upcoming court date for Benson vs Evengot.
I'd assumed Kylie had been busy when she didn't respond to most of my calls, but I didn't imagine the hearing had been this close.
Wait. Benson versus... did that mean the kidnappers last name was Evengot?
I'd asked this very question but all the captain gave me in response was:
"He's had many names, Mrs. Tiffin. We are pleased to assure you that he will be locked away for a long time. We'd like you to testify if you could."
Even after the dirty look I got from Hero, I didn't leave room to hesitate. I had to do this. I owed everyone involved that much.
All our parents were alerted as well. When I told them about the life sentence Willard was sure Evengot was to get, they all proposed we celebrate.
After sending in the necessary paperwork to ensure they could testify, which would likely take another few weeks, we all had a bash at my house. We were all in high-spirits (kylie and friends included) and danced all night to Brendan's mix.
Hero didn't stay mad at me for as long as I thought but he eventually led my waddling self away to check on me.
"You're sure about this, baby? If that fucker so much as looks you..."
I nodded.
"More than anything. That Evengot needs to know he didn't get me."
