"To your left! Yes yes! No, you missed it! Let-"
"Bruh.. I don't think he needs you to coach him." Chih Tian was holding a plate of cut apples and pears while staring at the two men sitting on the floor, specifically his boyfriend. He sat on the sofa after placing the plate on the coffee table of which Yu and Ray had used to lean their backs on. They sat with their legs folded on the floor in front of the TV, one was holding a game controller, the other was chanting for his win.
"Mind your eyes, you are sitting too close to the TV." Sam kept the phone he had just used inside his pants pocket and extended a piece of apple towards the man currently too absorbed in his game to listen to his advice. Taking his seat beside Chih Tian on the sofa, he tapped his fingers on his thigh, looking towards his friend who was getting a bit too close to his boyfriend for his liking.
"What the hell, Yu! You were so close! Come here, let me play." Ray nudged Yu's shoulder and grabbed the controller off the man's hand.
Yu turned his head back to smile at Sam who had been silently watching him from behind and finally took a bite of the apple he had kept in between his lips. He was about to stand up when Ray groaned as the character he was playing was killed early in the game.
"You kinda suck." Sam sneered at his friend. The two guests had been in Sam's house in Jiufen since that morning and now that it was nearly dark outside, Sam wondered if Ray planned to spend the night there, not that he would let him.
Ray pulled Yu's shoulder down and wrapped his arm around the man as he contended with an impish look, "Well, I learned from the worst!" Everybody in the room knew that Ray only said that to irritate his friend so they paid no heed to the remark, except for, of course, Sam.
Yu and Chih Tian exchanged knowing smiles for the banter between the two old friends would ensue soon. A mere mention of his name would easily irate Sam when it came from Ray's mouth so Ray had been using Yu to get Sam's hair all fried every time he could manage.
"Yeah? I'd like to see you fist fight him now, see who'd win!" Sam already jumped to his feet, allowing Yu to escape Ray's grip and took Sam's seat beside Chih Tian instead. Both of the spectators munched on the fruits like it were popcorns in the cinema.
"You wanna bet who'd win this time?" Chih Tian crossed his legs as he shook his head slowly looking at the immature men with a Dr. to their names.
Yu chuckled, "I don't even know what they're fighting about."
Ray's thought was briefly filled with the image of Yu in a samurai clothing holding a sword in his hand, hence he deflected, "Well, I might not win him but I could easily win you!"
Sam jeered at the proud talk, already clenching his fist into a ball. Was he mad? No. He hadn't seen Ray for a few weeks since they now live and work far from each other, so he thought he'd indulge the adult child for a bit. "Hahah, I'll let you try. Come, punch me first!" Sam dared.
The living room was a bit different than it was from the first time he brought Yu there. The vacant space above the fireplace now had a 64 inch TV, with an L-shaped sofa facing it. An armchair was placed near the window where a large bookcase filled to the brim was stationed. Almost all of the book from his house in Taipei had been brought here while the other stuff, he sold along with the apartment.
The two men were already in boxing stance when Chih Tian sounded from behind, "I really suggest you don't let him, Sam. Let's just fight like kids and use vulgar words, okay?"
"I agree." Yu nodded, persuading Sam with his eyes wide opened.
"You don't think I could beat him?" Sam asked, his tone rather disappointed as he lowered his hand to his sides.
Noticing the change of expression in his boyfriend's face, Yu straightened his back and gave him a sound advice instead, "You could but you shouldn't let him punch you first."
Yu meant to say that in physical fights, being a gentleman rarely help, so letting his face punched first was a step closer to defeat. However, another thought crossed Ray's mind, making him blurted out, "Yeah. Yu would know how my punch would feel li-"
Then it was silence. Sam raised his brows as he looked back and forth between Ray and Yu while Chih Tian attempted to walk away from the scene after facepalming himself, but Yu was quicker to hold his shoulder down. The three of them recalled the same thing. The thing the three of them had promised to keep to themselves. Something only Sam was still in the dark about.
"What do you mean?"
"What?"
"Ray.."
"Yaa.."
Yu stood up and walked towards Sam who was still standing and processing Ray's words in his mind. "Zi Hong.. It's nothing.. Let's sit down first." Yu tugged on Sam's shirt only to have his arm grabbed instead.
"Howwould you know how his punch would feel like?"
