"How would you know how his punch would feel like?" By the end of his question, he already realized how obvious the answer was.

Letting go Yu's arms, Sam turned his body to face Ray who already pulled Chih Tian up for him to hid behind. Chih Tian crossed his arms and stood there reluctantly near the sofa while Ray held on to his shoulders as his first line of defence.

"From the way you're acting, I can only believe that you did something bad. And from our conversation earlier, I can only conclude that you punched Yu.."

"It was totally unintentional!" Ray contested.

"What the actual fuck, Ray!? So it's true?"

"Zi Hong.. I kinda deserved it back then. Let's-" It was too late, Yu's low voice could hardly be heard when two grown men stomped around the wooden floor, back and forth, one trying to kill the other.

"You asked me to stay in character, so I did!" To be fair, Ray was caught up in the moment back then; that day, before he met Yu in his office, Ray saw Yu got out of a man's car so he couldn't help but felt suspicious. He thought Yu simply moved on when Sam was still painfully recuperating from his wound.

"I didn't ask you to fucking punch him! Where? Where did you punch him!?"

Sam stopped as he got near the worried-looking Yu, he lowered his voice this time, "Where did he punch you?" he asked again but Yu just scratched his nape, not answering. He tried to recall the time he treated Yu after Machida was arrested but all he remembered was a battered Yu with blood all over him, he wondered if one of the bruises was caused by Ray.

Sam then turned his head to look at the other person there. "Chih Tian."

"In the face, right near the mouth. The classic," Chih Tian swiftly helped answer from across the room with his boyfriend was again behind him. "Just get it over with, let him punch you once," he added nonchalantly, directed at the man behind him. He was pretty sure Ray could take a punch and he just wanted the men to settle the matter as soon as possible.

"What the hell! What if his cute little teeth fall out, what would you do then!?" Sam was hollering at the top of his lung, he wanted to take a huge lunge forward towards his bestfriend, but Yu was firmly holding his arm.

The knit in his brows loosened up as peals of laughter came from the man holding him. Like infectious yawns, Sam couldn't help but ease up and unconsciously turned his lips up. That laugh would kill me someday, Sam thought to himself as he felt his anger slowly subsided.

Seeing that Sam was now occupied with adoring his heart out of Yu, Ray started to relax and decided to pout instead as he looked at his boyfriend who he saw trying to slip somewhere else, "How could you rat me out like that!?"

"Hahah.. I'm sorry. He's my direct superior. I can't get on his bad side, you know." Chih Tian gave his excuse, busying himself with the mess of dishes in the sink. He was more than relieved that Sam did not go through with the punch or else he would never hear the end of it from Ray.

"He doesn't work there anymore." Ray's voice was loud enough for everyone to hear. He crossed his arm and plastered a sad face, hoping Chih Tian would feel bad and later would let him do it.

But Chih Tian was paying no heed, with his soapy hands he splashed some water at the pouting man. "You know the hospital wants him back, as the director this time."

"All the more reason you shouldn't tell on me!"

Knock knock!

"Doctor! Doctor Sam?? Please, open up!"

"I'll get it for you, buddy." Ray offered with a wide smile on his face as he ran towards the front door. He opened the door to a frantic looking girl in a muddied singlet and shorts with her bicycle dropped to his side.

"Dr. Sam, where is he? I need Dr. Sam." The kid was tugging onto his shirt, leaving stains from his small fingers. The sky was already dark but it was clear to Ray that the kid was crying, his snots he simply wiped on his bare arms.

"Woa, relax kid. He's—"

Sam appeared from behind Ray and took the girl's hand in his as he squatted down and asked, "Xiao Mei, what is it? How did you come here?"

"My mom, she.. she needs doctor's help. Please.."

"Wait," Sam stood up and was about to take his bag but Yu was already there to hand it to him. "Let's go." Opening up a small clinic in the village, Sam was pretty well-known among the uncles and aunties and his good looks helped his clinic to strive better despite being a late-comer to the area. Sam lived a bit far from the centre of the village so he thought that the kid must've only look for him after searching for the nearby doctors.

"Ray, please help me look at the cut on her knees." Sam took the keys and left with Yu. The kid he left to Ray's care since he already knew the way to most of his house's patient, ignoring the cry of the kid who wanted to tag along. Doing house calls was not one of his plans when he started his life there but seeing that many elderly had neither the strength nor the means to visit the hospital regularly, he every so often would check on them and do some routine check and the kid, Xiao Mei, was a grandchildren of a granny there. Thinking of it, it would be wiser to bring Ray along in case he needed the man's expertise but it has always been Yu by his side when doing house calls so he didn't think of it as an option.
