Family Zoo Day ~ Tony Stark x Reader

Summary: Tony surprises you with an afternoon at the zoo.

You felt lips along your neck and shoulder as you slowly were brought into consciousness. The familiar scratch of stubble on your skin was what gave it away that Tony was trying to wake you carefully. It had been a long night, Morgan would not stay asleep. Even at one and a half, your daughter was too much like her father. You spent a majority of the night up with her due to the fact Tony had been in meetings all week and looked about ready to fall over when he arrived home.

"Morning," Tony whispered in between kisses.

"Tony," you groaned. "I wanted to sleep..."

"And I've let you. It's nearly noon."

"Really?" Your head snapped up to look at the clock on your bedside table, which proved Tony was right.

"Really. And Morgan's been feed, had a morning nap, and is dressed for the day."

"The day?" You looked up at your husband with a questioning look. "What do you have planned?"

"You'll see." He pressed a kiss to your lips. "Now, go get ready for the day. I have your clothes laid out for you in the bathroom already and breakfast will be waiting for you downstairs when you're ready."

He gave you one more kiss before heading towards the door. You smiled, shaking your head at Tony before getting out of bed and heading to the bathroom. You took a quick shower before getting dressed in what Tony had laid out for you and heading downstairs. Tony was in the kitchen, holding Morgan against one of his sides as he dished some food onto a plate.

"Eat up," Tony said, placing the plate in front of you as you sat at the kitchen island. "We have a busy day today."

You ate up, continually curious about what Tony had up his sleeve for the day. He guided you and Morgan to the car, opening your passenger door for you before putting Morgan safely in her carseat and driving away from their cabin. You questioned Tony the whole way, but he kept his lips sealed. You watched as the country side turned into suburbs and then into the city. Before you knew it, you were parked near Central Park.

"I'm serious, Tony," you said climbing out of the car. "What are we doing here?"

Tony moved to unbuckle Morgan from her carseat. "We've both had long weeks. So, I thought that it would be fun if we spent afternoon at the zoo," he answered. "Just me and my two favorite girls."

He smiled at Morgan as he lifted her into his arms and came around to you, throwing his free arm around your waist.

"Sounds perfect," you smiled up at Tony, pressing a kiss to his cheek.

Tony had everything already squared away at the zoo. A tour guide was waiting for them at the entrance. Your small family moved to the front of every line, went to every exhibit, and watched every experience. You enjoyed every second of Tony and Morgan smiling. Every new exhibit your family went to, Morgan would try to get as close a possible to the animals. It was so cute to watch your daughter press her hands and face up against the glass, smiling and giggling at whatever animal she was currently enthralled with. And it brought you just as much joy to watch Tony smiling and laughing with his daughter. It was wonderful to see him enjoying life, especially after having felt like he needed to carry the weight of the world.

The afternoon went by too fast for your liking. But, when the zoo started to close and you thought the day was coming to an end, Tony surprised you again. You were heading towards the zoo's exit when Tony quickly grabbed your hand to stop you.

"Where do you think you're going?" Tony asked.

"Um... home," you answered. "The zoo is closing."

"Yes, but are you forgetting who your husband is?"

"What did you do, Tony?"

"I bought out the place for the night. You, Morgan, and I are going to feed the sea lions and have dinner in front of them."

"Are you serious?"

Tony smiled, intertwining his fingers with yours and leading you towards the sea lions. "Very."

"You're too good to us sometimes, you know that?"

"I'm sorry to tell you, honey, but you're wrong." He stopped, pressing his lips to yours. "But you're both too good to me."

The tour guide took pictures of your family in front of the sea lions before a zookeeper came out to help the three of you feed the sea lions. You all laughed as you tried to help Morgan give the fish to the sea lions instead of trying to eat it. You snapped a picture of Tony and Morgan, all smiles while feeding a sea lion, and quickly made it your phones background.

After feeding the sea lions, it was time for dinner. A high chair was ready and waiting for Morgan, along with her favorite foods. Your's and Tony's plates were filled with your favorite food. You two spent the dinner eating, helping Morgan, and talking, about everything and yet nothing. It was nice. Normal. It seemed like it had been an eternity since you had had a normal day. And it was wonderful.

Morgan slept the whole way home. This time, you carefully got her out of the car and ready for bed. While you tucked her in and sung her a song, Tony was leaning in the doorway, watching with a soft smile on his face. After Morgan was all settled in, the two of you made your way to your room to get ready for bed. As you brushed your teeth, your husband slid his arms around your waist and rested his chin on your shoulder. He pressed a soft kiss below your ear before meeting your eyes in the mirror.

"I love you," Tony said softly.

"I love you too," you replied with a smile. "We should do things like the zoo more often."

"Oh don't you worry." Tony grinned. "I have a whole semi-normal week planned out." He turned you around to face him. "For just the three of us."

"That sounds nice." You brought your lips to his for a kiss.

"Um..." Tony broke away, a little nervous. "What to you say to having another one?"

"Another one? Like another kid?"

"Yes. I think it would be nice to have another one of us running around."

"I'd love to, Tony." You wrapped your arms around his neck. "When do- ah!" You squealed as Tony lifted you up in his arms.

"What are we waiting for then?" He started back into the bedroom. "Let's get started!"
