Summary: You want a puppy. Tony doesn't.

You ran up to Tony, jumping up and down. Bruce, who was also in the lab, couldn't help but laugh at your antics.
"Yes, dear?" Tony responded, confused as to what got you acting like this.
"We're at the top!" You replied, still full of excitement.
"The top of what?"
"The waiting list! For the puppies!"
"The puppies? Y/N, we're not on any waiting list. Especially not to get a puppy."
"But we are! I put our names down a few weeks ago, once I found out that they were accepting names for their waiting list. And they want us to choose which puppy we want by tomorrow morning."
"Honey, we're already had this discussion." Tony hands found their way to your arms. "This place, our jobs... we don't have the time to take care of a puppy."
"But I'm not taking on as many missions as I used to, and there's a garden with a small yard on the roof. And, I'm sure that the other team members would love to help take care of a puppy. Right Bruce?"
"Um... uh... I think that I'd rather stay out of this," Bruce stammered. "I'm actually going to go." And he quickly took his leave.
"Tony," you whined. "Please. I have it all planned out. And these bernedoodle puppies are so hard to reserve."
"Bernedoodle?" Tony repeated. "What's a bernedoodle?"
"They're half Bernese mountain dog and half poodle. I have us on the mini waiting list. So hopefully the puppy won't get bigger than 50 pounds."
"We really can't have a puppy running around the place, Y/N. It would be too dangerous."
"That's not it and you know it." You folded your arms across your chest. "Give me a real reason why we can't have a puppy around here."
"Allergies."
"Bernedoodles are hypoallergenic."
"I-"
"And before you get any ridiculous ideas, having a puppy around would boost team moral. So why don't you want one around?"
"Cause I don't like them!"
"Oh..." You took a step back. The disappointed look that over took your face, broke Tony's heart. "I guess I'll just-" You couldn't even finish your sentence before you were out of the lab.
"No, Y/N!" Tony tried to stop you, but didn't go after you. "Damn it."
Tony spent the rest of the day in his lab, working. Trying to get his mind to stop replaying that look of disappointment that had settled on your face. He had JARVIS playing a live news feed of you throughout the day. You had moped around the rest of the day. Avoiding everyone. You weren't normally like that. And it hurt Tony to know that he had caused that.
And he had lied to you. It liked dogs. He just didn't want to disappoint it. Or get attached to one and then never have enough time for it.
"I'm guessing by the way Y/N's been acting all day," Bruce started as he entered the lab, "you said no to the puppy."
"We just don't have the time or place for one," Tony responded, still trying to busy himself.
"Y/N wouldn't have bugged you about bringing one into the Tower, if she hadn't thought it all out. Why can't you just give it a chance? You usually cave whenever she asks for anything. Why not this one thing?"
Tony didn't bother answering, instead he let his thoughts bounce around in his mind. After everyone else had gone to bed, including you, he snuck into your room at took your phone. He entered the password and searched for where you had been talking to the breeders.
Once he found it on your instagram, he began looking through the selection puppies. He noticed one that had all the markings of a regular Bernese mountain dog. Tony knew that you probably fell in love with that one at first sight. And, as hard as it was for Tony to admit, even to himself, he had started to fall in love with it. He sighed before reaching out to the breeders on his own account. He quickly reserved the pup and told them not to say anything, that this was going to be a surprise.
Two weeks passed, and you were still moping around, barely talking to Tony. Luckily, he was going to be gone for the day. Some business something. So you spent the most of the day, cleaning up the tower and helping the others prepare for upcoming missions. You were in the common area, alone, when Tony came back.
"Hey honey," he greeted, bending over the couch to place a kiss on your cheek. "How's your day been?"
"Good," you answered, flipping through the channels. "Yours?"
"It was good." You didn't bother respond. "I got you something."
"Huh?" Your brows furrowed. You suddenly heard some whimpering coming from Tony's jacket. "What's in your jacket?"
"Just your..." Tony pulled his hand out of his jacket, revealing what he was hiding. "New puppy."
"What?! Tony!" You jumped up. "Are you serious?"
"Surprise."
You squealed in excitement and ran around the couch. You gently took the puppy from Tony, cradling him in your arms. He was so sleepy and just curled up against you.
"He's wonderful," you said, with a giant grin. "Thank you so much, Tony." You leaned up and gave Tony a kiss.
"You're welcome, my dear," he smiled. He was happy just seeing you so happy. "Now, what are you going to name him?"
"I think I'll name him, Louie. King Louie."
