Amanda's P.O.V.

Spencer cut his hair. I never thought I would be sad to see his long hair go. I had always liked short hair better and Spencer had always liked my opinion more than his own. As a result, he kept his hair short in the time we knew each other back in college. It was a change to see him growing it out but I saw it as a symbol of the way he had changed. The way we both had changed.

No longer was he the teen who hung on my every word and took my opinions as commands. Now he was a man who had his own opinions and didn't care what anyone else thought but himself. Well, for the most part. When he asked my opinion, I was honest. I wanted him to leave his hair however he wanted it to be but he knew that I preferred short hair and while he didn't say that was why he cut it, I suspect it's the answer.

After asking me about it in the shower a couple of months ago, he hadn't brought it up again. Then, one of the rare days we didn't spend the night with each other, we had been called in on a case and he had shown up with his new haircut. Aaron made a joke about him joining a boy band and Spence got this cute little look of confusion on his face as he answered no. This had made the team chuckle before going back to work.

Despite my preference for short hair, I had grown quite fond of Spencer's long hair. Ever since I had known him, Spencer loved to run his fingers through my hair, untangling it as he went. Since we had gotten back together, I found myself doing the same for him and I found the act rather comforting and I could tell he enjoyed it. Now, despite his haircut not being close-cropped, it was no longer long enough to get tangled and my fingers came out before I could feel the soothing effects of running my fingers through his hair.

This is what I am thinking as I watch him sip his rum and coke at Night Club while the rest of the team rambles drunkenly. I didn't feel like drinking much tonight and Spencer didn't like it anyway. We had been here for two hours and between the two of us, we had shared one drink that Spencer was still nursing. Everyone else, however, was having a great time that wouldn't be so great in the morning. Dave had come and had two drinks before the Karaoke had started and he made a quick escape.

Garcia and Morgan seemed to be drinking for the group totaling about 20 drinks between the two of them. Emily came in a close second to them with a total of six drinks, not counting the tequila shots I know she's been taking throughout the night but had failed to keep count of. JJ had skipped the outing to spend time with Will and Henry leaving my brother just ahead of Spencer and me.

Aaron had drunk four double shots of Night Club's most expensive liquor. I could tell that even after the six months that had passed since Haley and Foyet's death that he was mourning the death of his ex-wife. As he waves the bartender over for another drink, I finally tear my eyes away from Spencer, who had been watching our friends make fools of themselves on the dancefloor, and focus on my brother.

Scotty sees his signal and alerts the other bartender who walks over and pours out another double and this time, Aaron doesn't even sip it. He simply lifts the glass to his lips and tilts his head back, taking all of it in one go. I sigh, knowing that I should stop him, but before I can get up, Kristen is at his side. I can't hear what they're talking about over the sound of the music, which thankfully is no longer karaoke after someone, me, had broken the machine. Despite not hearing the conversation, I can get the gist of it.

Kristen is scolding him for drinking so much before turning to the bartender whose name I believe is Nick and telling him to stop serving my brother. This seems to make Aaron angry as he stands up, towering over her with a glower. Kristen merely rolls her eyes and says something to him, holding up her keys and he glares at her before huffing like a child and agreeing. She must be offering him a ride home and he had accepted. I watch them go and then continue to stare at the door after them until Spencer breaks me out of my thoughts.
