3rd Person P.O.V.

It was a 15-minute drive from Quantico to Amanda's mansion and Aaron can't help but feel a little jealous at her proximity to their job. Rather than making an almost 45-minute commute like the rest of them, she had always managed to live enviously close to the FBI academy. He shakes off these thoughts as he approaches the door and rings the doorbell. It takes 5 excruciating minutes for someone to answer and when they do, he's shocked to see Spencer.

He knew that the younger agent was dating his sister and was a staple in her life but he didn't expect him to be at her mansion when Amanda wasn't there. With a frown on his face, Hotch speaks. "I need to talk to Kristen."

Spencer studies him for a moment before sighing. "No," he answers. It was such a simple answer yet it completely floored Aaron. Not because he had never been told no before but rather because the young genius had always been shy and self-conscious. It was no secret that since Amanda had entered his life he had come out of his shell more or even that there was a time when he was completely out. The shock came from the confidence and veiled anger in the man's voice when he denied him.

"Why not?" Hotch can't stop himself from asking and Reid scoffs. The eldest Hotchner expects an answer about him not wanting to upset Amanda but that's not what comes out at all.

"Because she's two months pregnant and the last time you talked to her you told her to get rid of her baby. I don't know if you know this but stress in the first trimester can easily lead to a miscarriage and Kristen wants to have this baby. I'm not going to let you in so you can yell at her or upset her and risk hurting her or her baby. You've been a huge asshole to her since the moment she told you and I tried to defend you. That's what makes this even worse, Hotch. I didn't want to believe her when she told us but it was true."

"I made a mistake and I'm here to right it," he tries to explain but Reid just rolls his eyes, an act Hotch hadn't seen since the younger man had gotten off drugs.

"You've made more than one mistake and I'm not going to let you hurt someone I love to try and make it right."

"Amanda isn't even here. She doesn't have to know," he attempts but Spence just frowns.

"I wasn't talking about Amanda, I was talking about Kristen but the fact that you came when your sister isn't here is a red flag in itself. Have a nice night Agent Hotchner." Spencer goes to close the door but Hotch stops it with a confused frown on his face.

"What do you mean you love Kristen?" He can't help the jealousy burning in his stomach as he waits for the brunet to answer but he never does. Instead, he moves Aaron's foot out of the doorjamb and closes the door. As he stands outside it, he can hear the young doctor locking it before his footsteps fade away from it.

Then Aaron just stands there for a few moments. At first, he's shocked and upset that Spencer had dismissed him, after all, he had considered them friends, and Reid was never one to stand up to people. Then that faded as he remembered that all his friends were pretty pissed at him right now. But it finally hit him why he couldn't bring himself to leave his spot. It was because he was standing outside his sister's house that was only occupied by two people. The woman he loved and the man his sister loved, the latter of which had just admitted to loving the former.

He didn't know what to think. It couldn't be a romantic love...could it? Spencer loved Amanda, Hotch knew that but then he recalled what Amanda had said when he claimed that she was in a perfect relationship. "We fight and our relationship is probably extremely toxic but we love each other." It couldn't be toxic enough that he would cheat on her though. Was it? He attempts to shake these worries off as he heads back to his car knowing that if Amanda gets home and sees him there will be hell to pay.
