3rd Person P.O.V.

Amanda and Spencer were no strangers to change. Amanda spent her whole life searching for something permanent, a chance to have a better life than her mother with someone who truly loved her. Spencer lived with a schizophrenic mother who hurt him in her fits sometimes and then her mind cleared and she forgot what had happened and scolded him for being clumsy so he changed himself and his surroundings again and again until he found something her could enjoy.

This is why you would think that two of them would be used to the twists and turns life throws at them and maybe they were. They knew that nothing was permanent, even if Spencer wished things would stay the same as they currently are while things are good. But even the most prepared people can be surprised and find themselves unprepared. Maybe if it had only been one twist in their life they would've handled it better but two in the same day? Nobody would be able to handle that. Not when they are so severe. The couple was laying in bed when the first plot twist occurred.

Amy and Spencer were laying in bed cuddling as she spoke to him in French. " Je Vous Aime," she whispers into his ear and he chuckles.

"That is the only thing I know how to say in French, actually, and I love you too," he tells her cheekily and she pushes him right as her phone rings. She leans over him and grabs it. "Who is it?"

"Harrison," she answers in confusion before taking the phone call.

"Amanda," he speaks immediately after the call connects. "I tried, I swear that I did but there was nothing I could do. This came from higher than me. I'm still trying to fight it but I don't think I can."

"Harry, what are you talking about?"

"You better come to Quantico. You're not going to like this," is all he says in response before hanging up. Amanda stares at her phone in worry and confusion before shooting out of bed and getting dressed.

"Where are you going?" Spencer wonders.

"To work. Something happened and Harrison already doesn't think I'm going to like it." Spencer nods his head and begins to get ready as well. When they arrive about 20 minutes later, Amanda disappears into her office along with Harrison and Strauss, leaving Spencer behind.

They had been in there about an hour by the time the case got called in. In Atlantic Beach, Maryland a woman had been reported missing and the local police had picked up the last two people that had seen her, as recorded by a security camera. Neither man had said anything and without a body, neither could be charged with anything.

All the team was waiting on was Amanda and JJ. As far as most of them knew, they had been in there for about 20 minutes, but Spencer knew different. Amanda had been in there for an hour arguing with both Harrison and Strauss before Harrison left as JJ arrived. Then 10 minutes later, the rest of the team arrived. In the office, JJ is fighting for her job. "You should have told Agent Hotchner about the job offer since she is your unit chief," Strauss scolds.

"It's none of my business what job offers she gets," Amanda points out.

" I wasn't interested in the job. I'm still not," JJ claims and Amanda lets out a loud sigh.

"That doesn't matter JJ. None of us have control over this."

"What are you talking about?" JJ asks and Amanda huffs, hating that she has to tell her this.

"I'm talking about the chain of commands, Jennifer. This came over Harrison and he fought like hell to stop it and still couldn't. It isn't about if you want the job, it's about how much they need you. From what Harry said, this is a national security thing and they needed someone from this team. They felt that you were the most expendable. It sucks and I spent an hour fighting it but Harrison fought for a month and they wouldn't listen. The most we can hope for is that you can make it through this case and then come back when you finish whatever it is they need you so desperately for."
