Jacob parked along side the other rich kids of Clarkson High and Ezra hated it. She got out of the truck as quickly and safely as possible and could already feel the stares. "You okay, sweetheart?" Jacob tried asking but Ezra was ready to bolt. "Hey, Ezra, what's wrong?" She shook her head when he tried to touch her. "I don't like it on this side of the parking lot. My friends are over there." She pointed to where she usually parked as she watched Lucy Jane get out. "I'll see you later." Jacob watched with furrowed brow as Ezra all but sprinted over to Lucy Jane. Some friends waved him over, but he couldn't shake the look of uneasiness and discomfort that Ezra sported the moment they parked the car.
The first half of school flew by and Ezra was beyond thankful. Lunch was like a zoo exhibit. She could see the distinct social classes defined and sectioned off by tables. She and her friends weren't exactly losers, but they were nowhere near the social hierarchy that was Jace Scott and his band of merrymen. She watched as Charlotte and her fellow cheerleaders joined Jace and the football players. Ezra couldn't deny it irked her a bit, but Charlotte wasn't touching him or even sitting next to him. Ezra just hoped she'd heard him loud and clear and realized he was not hers any longer.
Jacob was surrounded by friends including Sean. She really liked Sean. He was proving to be a good friend who knew a lot more than he let on. She still needed to ask him what went down between the guys and Mason since none of them felt the need to tell her the truth about their feud. Jackson was her favorite boyfriend to watch, because at Clarkson he was this mysterious man that had everyone's attention. His all-black daily attire fit the persona he was selling and it tickled her. He was an artistic lover that managed to bring her pleasure with the slightest of touches. He was her Bubba, but at Clarkson he was a troubled soul with few words to express his pain. It was comical.
As if he could sense her, Jackson looked over and saw his girlfriend staring at him. He wanted to smile. He wanted to blow her a kiss. He wanted to walk right up to her and bend her over the table and take her in the short dress she adamantly decided to wear. But he couldn't do any of those things for a variety of reasons, so he settled on a quick wink that no one would catch and went back to talking to Jonesy. "So, you coming out with us tonight?" Jonesy asked as he finished up his burrito. "Nah, I'm working on something else down by Thomaston." The moment they decided to take Ezra on individual dates, Jackson's mind had offered a plethora of ideas. They all were good, but he wanted something magical for their first date and settled on something. He was working hard and late into the night to make sure it was done.
"Thomaston? That's basically out of town. What are you tagging out there?" Jackson shook his head with a smirk. "Don't worry about it." Xavier laughed as he joined in. "I know what he's doing. He's setting up a romantic gesture for his boo." Jackson rolled his eyes and tossed his trash as the guys made their way to their next class. "I can't believe you live with Ezra. She's so freaking sexy," Jonesy said with a faraway look on his face that made Jackson want to punch him. "Quit lusting after my girl or I'll deck you." Jonesy raised his hands in surrender before chuckling.
"So, word is you're having a party." Lucy Jane smiled at Ezra as they exchanged books at their lockers. "What?" LJ smiled like the Cheshire cat. "Apparently, Jace, Jackson and Jacob announced a huge party at lunch to be held at your place this Friday after the first game." Ezra groaned loudly causing Lucy Jane to laugh. "Don't be like that E! It'll be fun, but you and I need to coordinate outfits! I want to recreate a scene from the video 'Best Friend' by Saweetie and Doja Cat." Ezra laughed heartily at this. "You're insane you know that, LJ?" The brunette just shrugged before bumping her with her hip. Ezra made a note to talk to the guys about this so-called party that they were definitely not having.
Ezra took her seat next to Mason in French class. They still had minutes before class was due to start and everyone seemed to be a buzz about the Scott party. "Do I get an invite to this Scott party now that I have a friend on the inside?" Mason joked causing her to chuckle. "There isn't going to be a party, Mase. I promised Celeste and Jansen that things would be taken care of around the house and that can't happen with some rager." Mason laughed at her. "You're so fucking cute, Ezra. If you think you can convince the Scott boys not to throw a party, you're sadly mistaken." Ezra watched as Jace and Jacob walked in right as the bell rang and frowned. "Trust me, I have my ways." Ezra whispered, but Mason heard her.
Ezra was thankful that Ms. Medley had backed off a bit in French class and was trying to do right by the students that were lost. Mason and her planned to get together next week some time to study and practice together as they had a test coming up. "I'm serious though, Ezra. Do I have an invite? It's been a while since I've stepped foot in the Scott mansion." Ezra shook her head as they prepped to leave. "Why do you even want to come? I thought you hated the guys." Mason shrugged. "I do, but I like you and you live there too. Besides I want to dust off my dancing shoes and show you a little something." Ezra laughed loudly at this. "You're an idiot. The party isn't happening, but sure you're invited." He cheered before giving her a kiss on her cheek.
Ezra opened her eyes widely. "You can't do that, Mason!" He scratched the back of his head as they stood in the busy hall with peering eyes. "I'm sorry, Ezra. I guess I got carried away." Ezra looked around before her eyes landed on a set of glaring gazes. Jace and Jacob were pissed. "I've got to go." Ezra said to Mason before turning to leave. Each boy watched as she scurried away trying to avoid the stares and whispers from nearby students. "I thought I told you to stay the fuck away from her." Jace whispered angrily to Mason. Jacob stood beside them glaring. "I can't help that I have feelings for her. I'm single. She's single and if she is willing, I'd like to change that." Jace made a move, but Jacob caught him. "Think of her," Jacob whispered to his brother as Jace finally noticed the stares. "I'm not going to tell you again. Stay the fuck away from Ezra," Jace growled out before heading to his final class.
Jackson could tell something was off with Ezra. She wasn't participating in class like she had the past couple of days and he knew she loved Psychology. "Baby girl, what's wrong?" Jackson whispered as class was dismissed. "I thought we agreed no party." Ezra frowned at him. Jackson nervously rubbed the back of his neck. "Come on, babe. It'll be small." Ezra glared at him. "The entire senior class being invited does not equate to being small! It's like no one cares what I feel or say or think?" She grabbed her backpack and headed out of the room. Ezra regretted not driving in herself. She made her way to where she saw Jace's parked Tesla and frowned. There was Charlotte waiting obviously for her boyfriend.
"What are you doing here?" Charlotte spat out angrily. "I'm waiting for my ride." Ezra retorted bored. Charlotte looked her up in down with a level of disgust Ezra had never seen before. "I can see the appeal. You're new, Black and shiny. You're exotic to him and you're free, in-house pussy. Of course, he'd jump at the chance to be with you, but it won't last." Ezra watched as Charlotte stared daggers into her. "Jace has never been with a girl as long as he has with me and that's because he knows only I can take care of him the way he likes. I please him in every way. You're just a distraction. A fetish he can cross off his list." Charlotte stood right in front of Ezra glaring. "There's a reason no one knows about you two. He's ashamed. He doesn't want anyone knowing he's slumming it with Black Annie." Ezra's eyes widened. Before she could slap the taste out of Charlotte's mouth, Jace had grabbed her.
"What the fuck are you doing here, Charlotte?" The blond put on a cheerful smile and looked up at him. "I just wanted to know if you needed any help planning the party Friday. I could take care of the cups and things if you wanted." Jace could see right through her act. He also knew Ezra was livid. She was practically shaking with anger. "I don't need your help nor do I want it or need you for anything. You can leave me alone." Charlotte pouted at this. "But Jace, remember last year's party. We had a little celebration of our own before and afterwards." Ezra moved out of Jace's grip. "Ezra, where are you going?" Jace called after her, but she kept walking. Charlotte smirked, which Jace caught.
"I don't know what game you're trying to play, but you need to stop. There is no us. There never was. I don't like you like that Charlotte. I never did. You were just good pussy, but more importantly, you were easy pussy. Stay the fuck away from Ezra or else." Jace got into his car and drove off towards where he saw Ezra heading. Charlotte burned with anger at the thought that she was losing her dream guy to some orphan Black bitch. If she truly couldn't have Jace than she was going to make sure Ezra didn't have him either. She was going to make sure the party would be one they'd never forget.
Jace couldn't find her. He had looked all over the parking lot and even stopped Lucy Jane to ask if she had seen her to no avail. He finally pulled up the tracking app they all had and saw that she was currently moving towards downtown Hartford. He knew Jacob was in practice and Jackson was off doing some secret tagging mission. "Who are you with, Princess?" Jace whispered to himself before he headed to her location.
